“Why is it so wet here?” Beth complains as her shoes make a squelching sound in the ground. “It’s like living in a marsh,” Quill agrees in disgust, lifting up his leg and glancing down at his shoe. “I hate marshes.” “I don’t think they’re that bad,” Kathleen, another of the new graduates to the Level Two island, smiles. “That’s because you’re weird,” another voice pipes up. Susan is the youngest of us all and looks the most annoyed. “These shoes were new. How are we supposed to get around this place? Do they expect us to walk barefoot?”

ARIA I finished helping Lila button her little sweater and slipped her backpack over her shoulders. She grinned up at me with that bright, innocent smile. “Maybe Daddy’s still sleeping,” I said lightly, trying to sound casual… nonchalant… unaffected. But Lila nodded without question. “Yeah! Daddy sleeps a lot on Wednesdays.” I forced a smile. “Then we shouldn’t disturb him, okay?” “Okay!” she chirped, grabbing my hand again. And with that, I took her to school.

His phone did not buzz again. He drank his tea and did not look at his phone and thought about three weeks ago. Three weeks ago had been a Wednesday, which he remembered because Wednesday was when he restocked the fastener wall and he had come home with the smell of metal on his hands and changed into old clothes and driven to the water tower with no specific plan.

Friday afternoon is one of normal kids’ favorite day. Because it is the start of the short vacation for weekends, which means there will be no class. They can watch their favorite shows in TV late at night and they don’t need to rush making their assignments. However, there are three young werewolves who aren’t excited for it. They are Chandler, Brett and Adam, who were the Alpha heirs of the Packs. “I hate Friday afternoon,” young Brett commented with a yawn. The three of them were walking together after the afternoon class ended.

“I thought for certain you would climb on that ship and sail away into the sunset without even saying farewell.” Gabe blinked, not believing his eyes. His friend hadn’t changed at all in the three years since Gabe had last seen him. “Braxton? What are you doing here?” “You sent me a letter, or had you forgotten?” William stopped in front of him. “Aye, I sent you a letter, but…that was three months ago.” “So I’m a little late. Have you forgotten I have a wife and children who need to be taken care of now?” Laughing, Gabe hugged his friend then stepped back. “I’m…I’m just so surprised.”

Ambrose Torture! That is what this week has been. Sierra is going to send me over the edge. It is the weekend, and neither of us has work, and she doesn’t have classes. We are stuck with one another most of the weekend. She is going out with friends tonight. Wade and Jackson are accompanying her, but they will stay at a safe distance to avoid being noticed by her friends. It would raise too many questions.

it's been a while here man.
