Suddenly, the ground shook. The Paper Monster had crash-landed in the park—now twenty feet tall, a twisting mass of sharp paper and black ink.
“The script must be finished!” the monster bellowed.
He lunged for the Woman. Maya jumped in the way, and the silver locket flared with purple light. She raised it and a shield of energy blocked the monster’s path.
“Go! Write the ending!” Maya yelled back.
The Woman dropped to the grass, grabbed her pen, and started writing. Her hand shook, but her eyes were firm.
