“Can you do this?” A hard wipe of a sleeve. “Yeah. Okay.” They stepped—two fire teams, bounding overwatch—under the dark skirts of the trees. The first hit fell. A massive werewolf dropped from the branches like a boulder of fur and teeth, smashing into Linda. Claws tore armour like paper. She screamed, hands scrabbling at slick hide. “Help me!” Tara’s scream ripped free as the others opened up—muzzles strobing the gloom. Rounds thudded; the beast barely flinched. It bit, wrenched—Linda’s trachea came away in its jaws; a red arc painted the pavement.

Ever since she'd seen the news about the release of Wolf in her New Reviews magazine, she'd had a feeling in her gut this was where she needed to look. Jamie had credited a lot of her information to a book titled Legends of the Werewolf. Lia had read and reread the notes her great-grandmother had handed to her in those last sad moments. Notes that told about generations past that came here from Romania and grew the pack. This had to be the book. Legends of the Werewolf. Surely there couldn't be two books with the exact same title.

Of course, for Adam, this must have been a nightmare.
