Ignite me (A collection of Short Stories)
Like something vital has been rattled loose inside me.
A sharp ringing blooms inside my ear the instant I’m hit again. High, thin, relentless.
Everything else goes dull around it. Voices become distant, smeared, as if I’m underwater. I can see his mouth and Hailey's moving, but the ringing swallows the meaning. I try to focus, to ground myself, but the ringing keeps dragging my attention inward. It makes me feel isolated, cut off, trapped inside my own skull.
