The unknown man watched from a distance as the family gathered at the cemetery for Austin’s funeral. His eyes scanned the grieving faces, finally resting on Emily, who stood apart from the others, her face a mask of pain and determination. His lips curled into a satisfied smirk.
“She’s finally back,” he murmured to himself, pleased with how his plan was unfolding. Emily’s return had been a crucial part of his strategy, and now that she was here, everything was falling into place.
One of his men, standing beside him, shifted nervously. “Should we strike now?” he asked, his voice low and uncertain.
