I could feel Zade’s eyes boring into mine through the thin material of the veil, but I refused to avert my gaze no matter what. “I object to the wedding!” A voice called out into the air, and I flinched, feeling like I just got slapped across ths face. Zade looked even more shocked, then we were both glancing over at the crowd, in the direction where everyone is presently staring in, and when the spotlight focused on the culprit, it ended up being Dave, my ex husband.” “I object!” He yelled again as he got to his feet. Murmurs went up in the air, and I wasn’t sure I’ve ever felt this mortified before in my entire life.

But his arms felt like lies. . . The next morning, the Alpha’s men began preparing for a wedding. My wedding. I moved like a ghost through the day. The gown clung heavy to my shoulders, the bouquet shook in my trembling hands. The air reeked of roses and spiced wine, but I gagged on it. The priest’s voice droned, “Speak now or forever hold your peace.” And then, a voice was heard from the back. “I object!” Gasps rippled through the crowd.

“And now, before I lead the lovely couple to say their vows, I have to ask. If anyone here, knows any reason why these two should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace.” The wedding guests were silent, waiting with bated breath to see if anyone would speak up and interrupt the proceedings. A collective gasp filled the room as a voice, seemingly out of nowhere, shattered the silence. “I object!” it boomed, the words reverberating through the stunned crowd.

I let out a sigh of relief, but then I was startled when the beep from my phone signaled that Louis had sent me a new message. ‘‘Are you all set? The start of the wedding ceremony is coming up in just a few minutes...’’ I gathered my composure and got ready for the most important performance of the century. The priest started to speak, and when he said, ‘‘Should anyone present know of any reason that this couple should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace...,’’ I wasted no time and stood up from my seat, raising my hand. ‘‘I object!’’

I smile back at him and as if yanked back to reality all the noise comes rushing back to me all at once. “If anybody here has an objection to this wedding, please speak now or forever hold your peace” Of course, it is only a formality and nobody expects anyone to really raise any objection but to my utter dismay, I hear an objection raised. “I OBJECT” I look around shocked. Surely someone is playing a prank. I wait for people to laugh about it and continue but Maxwell’s face is knotted. I turn to look at the voice, a woman’s voice who had objected. Who was she? And why was she objecting to the wedding? Was she Maxwell’s ex-girlfriend?

As soon as I felt the release, I staggered my way up the aisle, ignoring how dizzy and blurry my vision was. “If there is anyone who has any objection as to why this wedding shouldn’t continue, that person should speak now, or forever hold their peace.” The words rumbled in my chest and before I could think of the repercussions, they burst out of my throat. “I object!”

He’d made sure everyone knew what would happen if anyone tried to stop the wedding. As the officiant began to speak, Liam looked toward the back of the room, hoping to see Kayla one last time. But the doors were closed, and she was nowhere to be found. The ceremony was short and cold – words spoken without feeling, promises made without meaning. When the officiant asked if anyone objected, the room was silent. But just as he was about to pronounce them husband and wife, the doors burst open. Kayla stood there, her face pale but determined. “I object.”

"If anyone have reason why these two should not be wed, speak now or forever hold your pea--" "I object!" A gasp escaped the crowd. What the hell? Mason? "I, Mason King, object to the wedding of Genevieve Kenton and Ryder Pierce!" Now, there was chaos in the building. Journalists and reporters who were never spotted entering the building now has all their cameras up, even some of the people present were bringing out their phones to record what was happening right now. "Mason. Please, don't do this." Genevieve who had already taken off her veil seemed to have a pleading look on her face.
