What The Fireflies Knew Novels & Stories

But then, my side eyes caught light emanating from a particular side, and when I turned to look at the path at the left which was now at my back, I saw fireflies dropping on the floor and forming a trail. Could this be the path I’m meant to take? “Are you really leading me to my mother?” I voiced out, feeling so excited with tears filling my eyes up. Only the moon goddess knew how happy and grateful; I was, to the fireflies. I turned fully towards the path on the left. As I took each step, two or three fireflies flew away as they had done their part by showing me a trail. Suddenly, a cannibal rogue intruded, and the fireflies flew away.“No…. No…No. Don’t leave.” I pleaded earnestly, but they

But I didn’t see her anywhere. I thought maybe I just seeing things. But then a light truly flew across us. “What’s that?” I asked Luca. “Hm?” A second later, not only one dot of light, it became two, three, four… I frowned, it was everywhere now around us. I was confused but then realized it. It was so long since the last time I saw them. And this was the first time I saw them here. “Fireflies…” We said that together. I looked at him and we giggled at each other.

I can see myself nodding in agreement. “Yes, I trust you,” I said quietly, and a genuine smile appeared on Logan's lips. He then walked past me to stand behind me and pushed me forward with his hands on my shoulders. “Good,” he says back into my ears, and I shiver with glee. We took a step forward into the meadow, and my mouth opened wide in surprise, as did my eyes, as I took in the scene in front of me. The sound of our footsteps frightened the silent beetles munching on the leaves. It's not just regular beetles, though; it's fireflies. I was perplexed by the scene that was unfolding in front of me. I was mesmerized by the little glowing swarm that surrounded me. I continued walking deeper

When their sparkly ends met, there a shower of snow-sized fire drifted in the air. From where she stood, it resembled the nature of fireflies all too well. If she didn’t know better, she’d have tried and catch one. But she knew, even without attempting so, that it would fry her alive. It was rather ironic how it didn’t make the surrounding air so hot despite it looking so terribly enraged. But perhaps, it was because she didn’t fear, so the trick of this place could not dare to touch her.

“You insisted they weren’t insects.” “I was wrong,” I replied. “No,” he said gently. “You were hopeful.” I stopped walking. He noticed immediately. “That’s not the same thing,” I said. “It used to be,” he answered. A firefly blinked near my hand. Then another. Then dozens. I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. “They’re still here,” I whispered. “They always come back this time of year,” Darius said. “Even when everything else changes.” I laughed softly. “That feels unfairly poetic.”

Most of the time, she is unable to even differentiate between the different expressions that run across his eyes and face. "I am not," Annalia contradicts. After a moment of silence, Annalia finally broke the hush while she was looking up at the sky. "Wow!" Annalia exclaims, "I had no idea there were fireflies in this place," which causes Adam to turn his attention to the glowing flies. They are encircling them as if the fireflies did it purposely to draw attention.

"Perer, Can you tell me what happened to you yesterday night?" "Ok!" I said. "Yesterday night, I was feeling dizzy and everything was becoming fuzzy. I wanted to tell Uncle Max that I wasn't feeling well but I didn't because he was spending time with Miss Bisi. I didn't want to bother them." I paused. "Do you know that moths love fire so much?" "I do!" "They have no choice than to flirt with flames. Even when the flames bite their wings, they still fly around it." "Do you have any important memories you would like to share with me today?"

I just needed to figure a way out of this dark forest! Suddenly, from within the plants, trees, and earth, little flickers of light emerged. They were little golden fireflies and they all surrounded me as if trying to communicate with me in a language I couldn't understand. And you can call me crazy but I think they were trying to show me the way out of here. ‘Did I conjure up these fireflies?’ Don't be crazy Allyssa, you're not a witch. They followed each other in a straight line towards an unknown blocked path and I followed them, they were my only option.

Slowly, it was a bunch of little fireballs dancing in the darkness. “Fireflies…?” Colter whispered, his voice echoed in the darkness, “They are beautiful.” He felt a sudden pain jolt all over his body, it was as if something was being pulled out of him forcefully. It was a pain that seemed familiar, yet painful. Visions flickered in the dark, he saw memories, he saw his life flashing in this little dark space of his mind.

The fireflies that had guided us swirled through the open window, dancing around her fingers in an intricate pattern. "Fireflies are everywhere," Giselle explained. "They see everything, hear everything, remember everything. I can communicate with them, guide them, ask them questions." She closed her eyes, and the fireflies responded, forming shapes in the air. "They show me what I need to know. They help me understand the world in ways others can't perceive." "Remarkable," Matthew murmured, genuine interest lighting his features. "I've heard of such abilities, but never witnessed them firsthand. Your gift borders on true magic, a rare thing indeed."
