Pact of Blood
Dave spent three nights parked in the shadows of the alleyway across from the carpentry shop.
He brought his camera, a high-end digital unit with a long-range lens, convinced he would capture something that would expose Vlad for the fraud he was. The first night, Dave sat in his car, shivering against the biting cold, waiting for a light to go on.
None did. Vlad didn't need the comforts of light; he didn't even seem to need sleep. By 3:00 a.m., Dave saw the door of the workshop open. Vlad stepped out, not into the alley, but into the darkness of the night itself.
