The Perfect Lie
I uttered, wishing I could say it aloud, but it came out as a whisper, and then I opened my eyes.
As if I had just announced an apocalypse, their hearts seemed to stop beating as they were all just staring at me. When I tried to laugh, they all scrambled to their feet and hovered at me.
“I knew it’s the pie that would wake you up,” Matthew exclaimed, laughing and crying at the same time.
“Please...” I looked at Blake, hoping to help me get up, and I was glad he understood. He helped me sit, plumping my pillow before leaning my back on the cushion. “Thank you,” I mouthed. “It’s the one million, Matthew.”
