I paused and looked at James for his reaction before I continued talking. “She just suddenly changed; she just started ignoring me, avoiding me everywhere, and I don't know why. I tried asking her about it, but she kept on pushing the conversation back, like, "I will to you later; I will let you know when I'm less busy." You know, just different means of avoiding me.” I complained, replying to James. “I don't know exactly what to say right now, but I'll suggest… maybe I should ask her directly why she's avoiding you, or what do you think I should do?” James asked me.

“Because I know exactly what this looks like. You think you can waltz out for half the damn day and not give a single explanation?” “I’m not one of your interns, Avery.” “No, you're supposed to be my fiancé,” she hissed. “But lately, you’ve been acting like a goddamn stranger.” He sighed and dropped into the chair. “I needed air. "Ever since yesterday, you have been avoiding me. You never talked to me and you never tried to reach out. You're always hiding something that you don't want to share with me." He accused him and his face tightened.

Max frowns. "What? Why not? Why would we-" his mouth shuts firmly when he sees the look of annoyance on her face. She seems to be having the same thoughts as him, only for different reasons. "Because it was just... really embarrassing," she replies, crossing her arms defensively in front of herself. He frowns slightly and opens his mouth to protest, but his brain tells him to just keep quiet. Something about the way she's acting is just unsettling. She avoids eye contact with him and avoids looking at him while talking, and he can't help but wonder what he did wrong, despite not really wanting to know. It seems that she's avoiding him. That's not like her.
