I was on alert when Cayden and Michael left to assist Aidan, I was in charge momentarily with the former King assisting in getting everyone to safety when we heard the alarm. I was mind-linked by a warrior who stated the rogues had breached the territory on the southern border closer to the Elvish Kingdom and were taking on lots of rogues. I ordered my men to attack and my wife went into our built-in panic room with the former Queen, her mother, and our kids with two assigned bodyguards. Chapter 3- A Perfect Day Drrrrr! Crash! Bang! Melo was awoken by crashing and banging happening outside his room. What kind of ruckus is happening? He thought to himself. He slightly opened his eyes but all he saw were the lights peeking through his window blinds, beaming across the room. He scooted to the other side of the bed, facing his big glass window that is covered with white blinds. Then, he slipped two of his fingers in between the blinds and allowed just the right amount of light to pass through.

The inside of his wings began to glow with velvet iridescence. He carried Clara in his arms and she didn’t protest. His wings freely opened behind his back. She reached around his back to brush his wings nervously as if they could burn her like the sun. But they flowed around her fingers, smoother than the softest velvet, the plushest rug. The way she’d imagine that a fluffy, sun-drenched cloud would feel if she would cup it in her hands. “You’re so... beautiful,” she whispered to him. The prince took a swift intake of breath, his wings quivering in her every touch.

He took great care not to touch its wings as he tried to help it take flight once more. Damascus quietly whispered words of encouragement as it flapped it wings. The dove stopped and looked up at him as if it understood everything he had been saying. Damascus stopped talking and stared back at it.
