We Are Destined Mates
She says, “What do you require from me and our Goddess?”
For a moment I’m too stunned to speak.
“My race,” I reply after a beat of silence, “I want to know if I’m human or supernatural.”
“I see,” The witch replies, “What do you call yourself, forgotten one?”
“Brooke.”
“Brooke,” The witch dips her head, letting her hair and her hood hide her face. One of her hands disappears into her cloak before pulling out a small knife edge. I gasp, wondering what was about to happen. Knives never mean good things, even if they were small and crudely put together like the one the witch is holding. I hear an alarm go off in my head, and try to take a step back, away from the knife.
