“There was the Moon’s blessing — healing, protection, renewal — and there was the Veil.”
“The Veil?” Baylee asked.
Jessica nodded. “The space between this world and what comes after. The barrier that keeps old darkness out.”
“And the Veil weakens,” Melody said, “whenever wolves give in to cruelty. To greed. To bloodlust for power instead of protection.”
