The poisonous worms on the cave ceiling start to rattle and fall as they descend upon our heads. I wonder what they taste like. I've never eaten a poisonous worm before. If I give one of the worms to Maximus he surely go crazy. If Maximus went crazy he wouldn't be able to fight Cody and become the next chief of the Wolf People Clan. Werewolves are dangerous creatures who protect me under the light of the moon but there is no moon in this cavern only darkness.

The moist surface squished under the impact, a sound that turned my stomach. “Bloody snake?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. “Do you know where we are?” I searched the darkness for something—anything—that would give me an answer. The faint light of the worms revealed nothing but the same fleshy expanse I had seen before. Then, something caught my eye. Two worms had stopped crawling. They faced each other, their mouths opening wide like serpents ready to devour prey. Before I could react, the larger worm lunged, swallowing the smaller one whole. Its body doubled in size instantly, wobbling as it digested its meal before shrinking back to normal.

The clouds hung heavy in a dark and sombre grey, a storm brewing as though the heavens were expressing discontent with the transpiring events. Shops stood shuttered, streets eerily deserted, and lights flickered intermittently. In one town, electricity stubbornly persisted, a meagre beacon for the werewolves encroaching upon human land. Desperately clinging to the dwindling hope of victory in this war, the werewolves initiated a quest for the elusive Tree of Life. Although deemed a myth, whispered around campfires and narrated to children as fairytales, every story held a kernel of truth.

Something feels… wrong. *Werewolves*, I think suddenly, shivering. Stories my grandmother whispered… they were real once, people said. But not near the city—no one has seen one here for decades. Just stories. I push the thought aside. Don’t be ridiculous, Aurelia. It’s just the wind. Just your imagination. I don’t care. I don’t care about anything anymore. I just keep moving. Then I hear it; a low growl carried on the wind. My stomach flips.

The young man wiped away the remaining tears on Lillian's cheeks, then held her in his arms one more time for a few seconds before scrutinizing himself with a grimace. “That witch is crazy! He… he did something to Louise.” "Is he all right?" Lillian asked warily. Wiggy didn't answer, but her soft current made Lillian understand. Something bad has happened. "My pixies!" Wiggy shrieked when he found the carcasses of moths scattered around him. "They're helpless without the moonlight ... they're the last company I have."

Horan explained as he pointed to the opposite side of the stream, where the garden or the forest was. "Alright, understood." Jennet nodded her head as she held her husband's arm when they crossed the bridge. But, mid-way, they still stopped to admire the beautiful wisteria above their heads. The wisteria housed another colony of beings that looked like squirrels but had long ears like rabbits, poofy furs that made them look chubby and crystal-clear wings that looked like the cicada’s wings. Their eyes were big and gleamy in caramel colour, and they squeaked when they were spooked. Oh, they were as huge as a bee and they had cute bobtails.

The hiding of the clan, however, is the real horror of this world I now live in. The Blackclaw clan hides in the space between worlds, or so I’ve eavesdropped/heard Krono explain one time. On one side, the clan borders the dark forest of a world full of monsters. It is said that the dark forest hides vampires, extinct in be human world, witches and warlocks like Krono, and other human myths come to life. It is said that Lorez found a magical stone that teleported him to this world, where he first met Krono. From there, the tyranny that is Blackclaw began.

*makes sobbing noises* Thank you for your time and patience and for diving into the world of werewolf stories that I created, where sometimes it’s best to accept that not all love deserves a second chance (or a third). Just like the common saying that says "The grass is greener on the other side", in my werewolf stories collection you can also find that sometimes, the moon is brighter on the other side—and that pertains to the idea that a brighter future can be found in someone else’s eyes.
