Rebecca knew they were Desmond's gift.
Without a word, she changed her shoes, washed up, and put on loungewear. She washed a plate of cherries and stored the rest in the fridge. Then she sat on the sofa, scrolling on her phone and eating the cherries.
"You like cherries? I never knew that before." Vance sat beside her, popping one in his mouth. "Sweet."
She glanced at him. "Desmond brought them."
Vance paused, eager to spit it out and say it wasn't sweet at all. Instead, he asked, "Why did he bring you cherries?"
