I throw my head back and miss, Tristan countering with a punch to my mid, taking my breathe for a second. He wrestles me down, holding me to the ground, I lift my legs over his shoulders, twisting to swap positions. As I going for the final punch, he bucks hard, sending me flying into the air as he moves way too fast and catches me by the throat throwing me down hard. I grab his hand, twisting it and listening to his wrist crack as he groans in pain. He pushes through it though, moving his weight and pushing me back down firmly. This signals defeat, as his position is one where he could have snapped my neck.

Beverly sipped her wine. “Yes. They were only one or two a year since I was an underage amateur. By law, I had to fight someone within two years of my age. There weren’t that many of us. Plus, by law I had to be medically cleared and have at least three months rest from head trauma sports.
