An English Writer
This last book was not as thick as his previous books, but it featured stories set in both Burma and UK, and he wrote a lot about his earlier life, his days in Dorset villages, his service in First World War, and others.
Those facts were not found easily in his other books. After 1976, no one found his writings in any journals or magazines. Cecil wrote nearly 200 columns for Guardian Magazine.
1958, Rangoon-Mandalay-Katha
In 1958, July 31st, Cecil saw a lapwing on the lawn of his house in Hampshire which had been 11 years of retirement from the East and he had never seen a lapwing (Did’ee do-o-o it). It might be a presage for his upcoming coach trip.
