Leaving the Cheater in the Dust
As I approached the building, Stanley appeared, rushing toward me.
"I bought you some fruit. When I came back and saw you weren't here, I thought you'd left me again!" he said, his voice tinged with panic.
Nearby, a middle-aged woman watched us with amusement. "Young man, you really cherish your wife. My daughter could learn a thing or two from this when finding a guy."
Stanley laughed nervously, waving off her praise. "I'm just an ordinary guy," he said modestly.
"Ordinary?" I laughed, my voice sharp enough to cut through his facade. "Don't let him fool you. He's only acting this way out of guilt—because he cheated on me."
