This is the part I was nervous about telling them it was Zander. “Zander Blackwood,” I say confidently, looking right at my Uncle, letting him know I have chosen him, that he is my mate. He says eventually, noises behind him reveal the blonde girl that Flame was arguing with earlier. “Oh please be Darius’ friend.” She grins, pushing the boy out of the way and extending her hand. “I’m Gale. Gale Winters.” “Cain Harden.” I shake her hand quickly before dropping it and turning to the boy again, attempting to be pleasant when I just want him to get the fuck out of my way. “Darius told me we were going Tree Surfing.”

"Have you told Charles about this decision? Does he agree to let you return to human territory?" Alpha Dylan suddenly asked. I bewilderedly asked back, "Why should I tell Charles about my decision? Where I want to go is my right. I don't need his permission." "I think you should tell Charles about your decision. Anyway, he is your mate. He…" "Wait! My mate? Who? Charles? Did you make a mistake? Why is Charles my mate?" I was so shocked that I suddenly interrupted Alpha Dylan's words.

I sat on her chaise lounge, leaned on her, and pressed a kiss against her lips. She opens her eyes. "Xander, you're back. Where have you been?" "I went for a meeting with Theo to ask him to join the war against my parents, and he agreed." "Oh, how is he?" "He's doing fine; he's happily mated, and his wife is pregnant with two pups." "I'm glad that he's happy and he will have a family soon; did he ask about me?"" I growled in annoyance, "Yeah, he wants to see you, bastards."

He said softly and her cheeks flushed red. "I miss you already." She said locking eyes with him. " I em... have an art exhibition to attend in few days time." He said tucking strands of her hair backward. "I would like you to come with me. I plan to gift my mum Xanders rare piece." " Xander?" Matilda was stunned, Xander was a renouned artist whose artworks were almost priceless and only the wealthiest people could afford it in an auction. "Yes, it has always been my mum's dream to own an artwork of his but as you know they are priceless."

I mocked. “He’s your best friend in every life. Why do you think he’s still alive? Look… I did what you asked, but it doesn’t matter what I say. You won’t believe me.” He shook his head, and I leaned back. Lifting my hands in front of me defensively. “Wait! Give me… tell me something that hasn’t happened yet.” “Done. I know who his mate is,” he said without hesitation.

The moon is so still and calm above. I step off of my brother, seeing him hesitate to react, to want to snap my head off, and instead he shifts as well, standing to face me as we try to catch our labored breathes, our drained bodies ready to collapse. He looks rough, pale and sporting a new, unhealed scar. I know it is of my mates doing. I can just see it radiate in the pool of his hatred that he took a mark from her resilience. And she is damn resilient. “You surrender?” Xander cackles, his voice not of his own. He sounds so depleted, so lost in his own self obsessions that it’s pointless to find the reasonable side of him. I can see now he is far too gone to be reasoned with.
