I grit out, “Would you mind shutting the hell up so I can see my baby?” “Our baby,” he corrected me with a wink. Just then, the tech twisted the wand, pushing on a particularly sensitive spot, but before I could adjust, my eyes widened as a tiny, bean shape popped up on the screen. A shaky exhale spilled from my parted lips as I watched in amazement. Tears burned my eyes the longer I stared at the tiny baby, moving softly within my stomach. “Wow,” the tech tilted her head, moving the wand to a new position.

He ran directly into the old woman carrying the baby. “Watch where you’re going! You hurt my elbow. I demand compensation.” The child’s voice in my head turned louder and shriller. It sounded close to tears, yet joyful. “Daddy! It’s Daddy! Daddy, it’s me, Alex!” Nolan looked around in search of the source of the voice. His gaze was one of confusion. “Look down, Daddy! I’m the baby that old woman is carrying!” Nolan looked at the baby and was taken aback. He hurriedly said apologetically to the old woman, “I’ll take you for a check-up. Please wait for me outside.”

I tell her, holding Cole's hand tightly. She smiles and turns back to the screen, pointing to what I'm assuming are the anatomy parts. "You're having a baby boy, guys! Congratulations!" "A boy!?
