But we must warn.” Danica stepped forward, blunt as ever. “Why now?” The Watcher’s mask turned toward her. “Because your valley stands on the threshold of awakening. The eclipse was not the end. It was the knocking. The next one will be the door.” Varek’s jaw tightened. “What walks through?” “A hunger,” said the Watcher, “older than wolves, older than prophecy. It will not kill you. It will unmake you—strip memory, story, will. Until nothing remains but silence and obedience.”

“But the dagger didn’t speak.” Soo-ah looked up. She was pale. Shaking slightly. “What did you see?” She hesitated. “Fire. Screams. And then a face. Not mine. Yumi smiled as she slowly walked toward Wilbur. Wilbur frowned when he saw her walking closer, "Stand there. I don't want to attack a woman. If you play any tricks, then don't blame me for being impolite." "Is that so?" Yumi continued her approach. "Then, what do you plan on doing to me?" Wilbur's face gradually darkened. Even when she traveled for work, she forgot to buy me a gift but remembered Marcus's measurements and bought him a suit.
