“Why protect yourself like this?” I take a deep breath. The wall I’ve built starts to crumble. “I know real pain,” I tell her, voice low. “Real hunger. Real loss. I survived it once. I swore I would never let anyone hurt me like that again.” My hand presses to my chest, over my heart, over the numbers inked into my skin. “The only way to make sure of that,” I say, “is to never let anyone in here.”

That was all I needed. I took a shaky breath and tried to steady my thoughts. “Okay,” I whispered to myself, my voice barely audible. “Just do it… just enough.” I glanced down at my wrist, feeling my pulse beating fast beneath the skin. The idea of doing this made my stomach turn, but it was the only way I could think of. If I hurt myself, really hurt myself, maybe I’d get them to take me to a hospital, somewhere outside this miserable room. It was a slim chance, but it was a chance. I had to do something.

She left me so confused and hurt. "Damn you. You made me fall in love you and now you left me. You left me with this damn, letter. Damn you. Damn that love you have for me!" One thing was sure, nothing escaped from my madness. All the things I saw were being ruined and shattered by me. I punched all the walls I had seen. I did not care anymore. I did not care if I hurt myself as well. "Damn, find her! Find her at all costs!" I demanded to all my people.

I have to give you credit for that. "Leh-leave me." I was unable to make any proper word because of the pain that was shooting from my arm and scalp. "Let me go. YOU ARE HURTING ME," I screamed on top of my lungs after getting courage from my inner spirits. "That is exactly what I want you to know. I won't hesitate to hurt you, if you try to run away from me again. I will do everything that I have to in order to keep you here, by my side, with me.''

"Yes, you knows what I'm saying is true, you feel it too...., why do you keep lying to yourself, because you know you ain't telling me lies, you're trying to tell yourself that you are far better staying far away from me...., but we both know you are miserable without me", she smiled before pecking me lightly on the left side of my cheek. "Why do you keep hurting yourself?", she questioned. "I don't like him being around you", I finally confessed.

I knew the hunger to be with anyone else, just to stop the haunting. I finished securing the bandage, pressing it into place before letting go of his hand slowly. “There are easier ways to deal with that,” I said after a moment. He look unamused. “Yeah? Like what?” “Talking, for one.” “You think talking is going to get her off my skin?” “No,” I admitted. “But hurting yourself clearly isn’t doing the job either.” He tensed up again. “You can still feel her,” I said, not as a question.

I don’t know how to stay without ruining. And if I stay near you, I will keep carving pieces out of you just to feel less empty. I am leaving not because I don’t love you… but because loving you has made me someone I hate. If I stay, I will come back. If I come back, I will hurt you again. And one day, you will look at me the way I look at myself. I won’t let that be the legacy I leave in your body. You deserved a love that didn’t feel like punishment.

When I don't answer he gets angry and raises his voice. "Tell me!" He booms. "No one" I say honestly. "I did it to myself" His anger disappears and he looks like I just killed a kitten. "Why would you hurt yourself?" He says sadly. " I don't do it on purpose. It's to..... Well..... it's to keep me in" Hunter looks confused "I sleepwalk, so I handcuff myself to my bed at home" "You didn't sleepwalk last night" he states. "No I didn't" I say slowly.

I pride myself in being unstoppable but I cannot stop her from getting into as much trouble as she constantly falls into. What is the use of my power if nothing can be done? I curse at myself for ever letting her come out here, falling for those soft eyes that frowned at me with displeasure. I won’t ever let you get hurt again. I swear to myself and to whatever blasted god is out there in the universe. If you survive this, I won’t ever let you get hurt again. I’d rather lose and arm and everything else. I stroke at the cheek of her pale skin. Approaching footsteps put me on edge again.
