Ignoring the dizzy spell that washed over me, I pulled the IV straight out of my arm, ignored the doctor's protests, and rushed out of the hospital, hailing a taxi back to the mansion.
When I burst through the front doors, panting and desperate, I found Damian standing in the grand living room, adjusting his luxury watch. The second his dark eyes locked on mine, his face hardened into impenetrable stone.
"Why the hell are you back here?" he asked, his voice dripping with pure annoyance. "I specifically instructed the staff to send your luggage to the hospital after you. You should have taken a taxi straight to a hotel and disappeared. Have you signed the divorce papers yet?"
