Wet Confessions
They paused just long enough to remind me that silence can say more than scripture.
“Miss” He glanced down the attendance sheet. “Daniels, is it? You wrote your entrance essay on the paradox of obedience. Stand, please.”
My pulse stumbled.
I rose, clutching the hem of my cardigan. “Yes, sir.”
“Do you believe obedience and goodness are the same?”
A few students turned, waiting for me to falter. I didn’t. “No, sir. Obedience is comfort. Goodness is a choice.”
His expression didn’t change, but a flicker of approval or recognition passed behind his eyes. “And when choice defies God?”
