After a long day of shopping, they’d finally parked themselves at their usual spot,
They’d been laughing like it was old times—Mei talking with her hands, Zoya picking at grilled prawns, the whole table full of seafood and lemon wedges and mojitos.
Mei was in the middle of a story—something about a guy who tried to impress her by taking off his shirt to show his fake abs—when her sentence died.
Her fork hovered.
Her eyes widened. “Oh my—he actually came.”
Zoya followed her gaze—and nearly choked on her drink.
