Iris said. Drones? Should I tell him about the one by the lake today? Did it even matter if I said anything?

With her eyes closed, she savoured as she chewed slowly. “Just the right amount of salt.” Her phone buzzed again. A news alert this time. “BREAKING: Police enroute to search home of Dr Karma Kuntz in connection with Chief Inspector's murder.” She took another bite of eggs, chewed slowly as she took a deep breath in and out, then she swallowed, not bothered by the news. On the TV, they had switched to helicopter footage. It was her building. Police cars surrounded it. Officers in tactical gear approaching the entrance.

"Dr. Cloude, two more wanderers have been discovered in Zone B7." I raised an eyebrow. "The same pair as before?" "Yes," he replied in a hushed tone. "The man is partially blind. The woman is completely zombified but still conscious. She's restrained." For the past year, Hans and Winnie had wandered like ghosts around the perimeter of various safe zones. The side effects of the first-generation vaccine had turned Winnie into a conscious zombie, while Hans stubbornly took her everywhere seeking medical help. "Should we expel them?"

I ask, still not looking. “Not well,” he says, voice strained. “But, yeah. I do. They were good kids.” Tears prick at my eyes. What sort of monsters would do such a thing? Come in here and murder innocent people? “Brynn,” I gasp. Brynn’s dorm is on this floor. Like almost everyone else, she must have been sleeping when the Silver Hunters attacked. Did she manage to get away? Is she even still alive? “I need to find Brynn,” I gasp.

I didn’t feel the need to kill them unless it was absolutely necessary. " You know there is a permanent solution to this right ?! ” War zone said. " By permanent, I’m guessing you mean kill ?” I said. " Do you really think they would hesitate and do it to us ?" she asked me " We’re better than that. Besides, we are only going to do that if we absolutely need to," Just as we were having that conversation the floors opened and outside of it five mechanized drones ready to attack us. During the surprise, I started to sense the hybrids and the pain they were in.

​The Ghost in the Mountain ​As they began their approach through the Gray Zone, the first wave of drones arrived. These weren't the "Harvest" scouts from the desert; they were "Executioner" class, heavy, spider-like machines that crawled across the gravel on multi-jointed legs, their twin-linked pulse cannons tracking the movement of the pack. ​"Scatter!" Leo roared.

Toward the stairwell that would take them back to Level Three. The first drone appeared. Quad-rotor. Armed with automatic weapons. It locked onto Morrison. He dove behind equipment as it fired. Bullets tore through a laboratory station. Chemical storage tanks ruptured. Smoke filled the corridor. "Move!" Morrison shouted. "Get them up the stairs!" More drones appeared. The team was pinned. Subjects exposed. No cover. Dr. Vance ran back toward Hammond's laboratory. "Where are you going?" Maya shouted. Vance didn't answer. She reached Hammond's control station. Grabbed the doctor. Held her in front of the cameras.
