“Ayla, please stop crying,” Alpha Dairo said gently. “I know you’re sad. I can feel it too. But you must try to calm down now.”
But Ayla couldn’t stop. The tears just kept coming.
She stood near a tall window in a quiet guest room of the castle. It was the room they gave her when she arrived, maybe just for the night, maybe longer. Everything felt confusing.
Her thoughts were a mess. Her heart felt heavy. She wished things were different. Luca should have been the perfect match for her. He had been kind and warm. But now she was bound to the Alpha King, a man who was cold, distant, and harsh.
