The familiarity of that tone twisted my guts, alarming me. I peered around Derek just enough to see my shameless ex strolling in.

Dressed as the picture of charm, he looked like a model in his designer shirt unbuttoned at the collar. The sly grin toying on his lips nauseated me to the core. His presence always came with the smell of expensive cologne and manipulation, refreshing my wounds.
