Sebastian's POV
“Mr Lenox-Hill, you are immediately needed at the hospital.”
I struggled to keep the frown off my face, but it still slipped in the middle of my eyebrows when I heard the speaker at the other end of the call. Call it super lycan hearing, but I had been hearing that phrase a lot. Usually at this time after dinner.
“Stop frowning so much, you old grump. You will get wrinkles at this rate,” Zane said with an air of his usual, carefree attitude and flicked off my forehead as he slipped by me to get his black coat.
“That hurts, asshole. Every. Single. Time,” I gritted out while rubbing away the sting on my forehead and followed him to the door.
His cheeky grin and bounce in his step made me question what he was up to at this hour. He had been suspiciously mysterious for the last two months.
“Going to your mistress?”
“Danger is my mistress,” he quipped.
“Not the answer I was looking for, Beta Lenox-Hill.”
“Then what were you looking for?” He asked as he snatched his wallet and keys off the long, royal table.
“Where are you going?” I asked upfront, blocking his exit and crossing my arms in front of my chest.
“None of your business,” Zane frowned.
“It is my business,” I coolly replied with narrowed eyes. “Who do you think is going to let you go at this hour?” I tilted my head questioningly.
“The question is not who is going to let me,” Zane stepped uncomfortably closer to me. He was hardly an inch or two shorter than me, so his sharp gaze met my cold one. “It’s who is going to stop me?” He challenged me.
“Me.”
“Right. I don’t have to tell you about my comings and goings. I thought we were no longer under curfew,” Zane raised an eyebrow.
This manipulative, lying son of a biscuit was evading again. Sixty days and I still didn’t know why he visited the hospital in that damn human city so often. He didn’t even put on his chick-attracting cologne. What was he doing in the city he hated so much if not to go to the night clubs to pick up women? Something seemed fishy.
“Explain,” I growled.
“The fort is under our control and we are free as birds. The enemies are dead or behind bars. You are well-settled at the helm of the throne and the people adore you to the point that they will willingly give up their lives for you. We have no imminent dangers except for a few unknown traitors. Stability reigns over our kingdom. So no curfew and no Alpha right to spy on us, nor am I on duty. I don’t see why you are so concerned about me going to the city,” Zane replied as he pushed me out of his way and walked towards his car with two warriors. The same two who followed him every night.
“Spoken like a true guilty man,” I graced him with slow claps. “I didn’t mean the explanation for ‘no curfew’, Zane. I want to know why you have been going to the hospital after dark.”
“Because it needs my help.”
“Till morning?”
“Yes.”
“Every night?”
“Yes.”
“You are not a doctor. What do you do there? Paperwork?”
“Yes.”
“Now try again without clenching your teeth.”
“I swear to god, I will punch you.”
“I DARE YOU TO,” this time Titan thundered in his booming Alpha voice while my eyes glowed their bright golden.
Zane looked conflicted before disappointment washed over his face. His face fell and his eyes lowered.
“I am sorry, I crossed a line, Alpha” the beta looked genuinely upset with himself. “I just … I am sorry,” he sighed, his head hanging in shame.
Calming down myself, I softly asked, “What is wrong, Zane? You never act like this. This is so out of character for you. If there is a problem, don’t try to shoulder the whole burden. Allow me to help you. I am not asking as your Alpha. I am asking you as your friend.”
Zane looked at me and searched my eyes for something.
“Oh shut up, stop getting emotional on me, Rihanna,” he burst out laughing and I somehow willed myself from smacking him on the head for using that infuriating nickname.
‘Cut off his balls. Then let’s see who Rihanna is,’ Titan suggested, and this time Zane glared at me.
As the two of them bickered at each other, I summoned the two warriors and asked them, “Where are you going?”
“To Lenox Hill Hospital, Your Highness.”
“Every night?”
“Yes Sir.”
“How long does it take it to reach?”
“One hour, Sir.”
“So you take the highway?”
“Yes Sir.”
“If you are speaking the truth, then why are the tyres so muddy?” I asked, and the warriors’ faces paled immediately.
Zane, on the other hand, looked completely unfazed.
I dismissed the warriors with a wave of a hand.
“Well?”
“We are going to the hospital,” he stood his ground.
“So you don’t mind if I tag along?” I smirked.
“Oh, look who’s nose is crawling back in my business,” Zane mocked.
“I am taking that you don’t mind. Let’s go together,” I coolly ignored his taunt.
“Yes, I do mind,” Zane gave me a straight answer for the first time. “Now I love being fashionably late but not so late that I piss off my doctors. Good Night, Sunshine. Don’t wait for me,” he blew me a kiss and my face immediately scrunched up.
‘Eww, Zane!’ Titan shrieked, as if he had caught the mumps. ‘Don’t you dare do anything illegal or else I will break your ass into a thousand parts!!”
“Oh, kinky. Daddy likes,” Zane waggled his eyebrows and my lycan showed his knowledge of high level vocabulary to him. Sorry, high level vulgar vocabulary to him.
That mutt seemed to have only learned cuss words when he was dispatched by the Moon Goddess. I had to train the unruly, manner-less lycan in all other relevant skills. He only had a natural talent for picking fights and cursing. Puppy Titan swore more than he fought on the training grounds during our childhood.
Zane heartily laughed his way to the sleek, black Mercedes and, with one hand, caught the keys thrown to him by one of his warriors.
The two warriors nodded at him and I was sure that he had mindlinked them to keep an eye on me before he slammed the door shut and peeled out of the driveway.
It was common knowledge to the both of us that Beta Lenox-Hill was involved in something that I wouldn’t approve of.
But what was it?
What are you up to, Zane Lenox-Hill?

Sebastian's POV
A week went by when Zane finally let down his guard and I got the opportunity of the lifetime to slip away from the palace to follow him and his warriors. Grabbing a few scent inhibitors from the medical wing, I trailed the Beta out of the royal grounds and towards the human city.
I started having second thoughts when Zane actually went to his hospital and was immediately surrounded by three doctors at the entrance. From the sounds of it, it did seem like an emergency situation.
“Mr Lenox-Hill, someone is stealing medicines, especially from the OB-GYN wing. We have been trying to nab the thief for a month, but we have made no progress.”
“Did you check the security tapes? Any luck with the cameras?” Zane asked.
While the team of doctors apprised him of the chaotic situation, I felt like a shitty friend. I should have trusted him. He was actually helping his staff at the hospital.
However, my eyes widened and nearly eclipsed my face when I saw Zane’s trusted warrior sneak out of the back of the hospital with pills and food!
Zane quickly wrapped up his meeting and went strutting straight towards the thief!
“Did you turn away the cameras so that she is not caught? She must be due for an ultrasound too. I asked the pack doctor about it. He has started getting suspicious. He thinks I need tips because I got someone pregnant,” Zane huffed.
I would have laughed out aloud if it were not for the alarm bells ringing in my head.
Oh Zane, did you do that one thing that I specifically asked you not to do?

Maya’s POV“Selene?” Sebastian’s voice was barely a whisper, as if uttering a name he never thought he’d speak again. The woman stepped forward, a vision of unnerving calm.“Oh, Lycan King! Keeper of the Law and Guardian of the Innocent,” she called out, not a flicker of fear in her voice. No tremble. No hesitation. “You are breaking your promise… Sebastian Longstone,” she said, voice like rippling moonlight—beautiful, but cold. Her silver eyes, framed by dark lashes tipped in white, gleaming as if dipped in glittery snowflakes. She stood like an omen—and looked like a goddess. Like her namesake. The Moon Goddess. Selene.Selene wore white—simple in fabric, but the woman inside outshone every jewel on the cliffs. She looked anything but ordinary. Her skin glowed like it had been dipped in moonlight. Her eyes were silver, almond-shaped, and rimmed in soft kohl, making them seem even more haunting with lashes feathered long and tipped in silver. With skin like luminous pearl, lips tinge
Maya’s POV“Zay-Zay.”“Zay-Zay.”“Zay-Zay.”The triplets were at it again—giggling and crawling at full speed, their tiny paws slapping the stone floor like a coordinated army of chaos.I nearly died from second-hand embarrassment when one pup latched onto Zane’s pant leg… and then another. The third, not to be outdone, launched into the middle and clung to both legs like a baby gorilla. Then—whoosh—the sound of dignity slipping away.Zane’s expensive slacks hit the floor in a tragic heap.Carl collapsed into laughter.I nearly melted into the tiles and evaporated.I sharply turned around and warm arms engulfed me in their chest, laughs erupting while I dug my face in the lycan king’s chest.“Sebastian,” Zane growled out, deep and dangerous, clearly knowing who taught the pups ninja techniques to trouble the Beta.“What? You got any problems with my kids?” he dared the Beta to speak.“No. I have no problem with your kids but I have many with you,” Zane snapped. “I am going to take my
Maya’s POVHis stare – nay – glare was intense. His eyes spoke volumes that his lips didn’t. They burned with fury, conflicted between punishing me right now or waiting for everyone to disperse after I tended to the bleeding patients in the royal hall.Bandage? I mouthed and Zane, who was my standby nurse quickly handed it over to me.“I command you to stop,” Sebastian barked out the command but no one paid heed as Carl and Valerie quickly stabilized the bleeding offender’s arm. Rose hissed while I stitched her up and then quickly bandaged her arm.“Zane, I order you to STOP!” Sebastian tried to intervene but one look from me and Zane visibly gulped, shaking his head as if tuning out his King’s orders.“Our Queen is so kind. She is a true healer,” one of the courtiers said, sighing, as if agreeing with his King.“Yes. She restored Princess Hannah’s appearance and gave the three perpetrators whatever extra powers she had. She should have kept them. They don’t have wolves in any case!”
Maya’s POVWhile the crowd stood frozen in disbelief, I stood quietly stunned, barely able to process the shimmering ring now encircling my finger. The ring fit perfectly and delicately around my finger. It was the stone in the middle that dazzled everyone! It was a huge diamond, fit only for royalty, so luminous it seemed to pulse with breath as though it were alive. My gaze locked onto it, on what it meant, on what it had claimed.“The size of the stone depicts the goodness of the owner’s character,” an elder whispered to another minister of the council.“Yes, and I heard that it is auspicious for the pack to get a person claimed by the crystal like that! We are lucky that she will be our Queen.”“She is truly skilled and compassionate. She proved herself during the rogue battle and Luna Trials. She has been acing all the rounds!”“We should support the King to take the doctor as our Queen. I hope he agrees.”“But she is an omega!”“Yes, but she is the chosen one by the crystal! It i
Maya’s POV“Wh-what is happening?” Leo stammered.Sebastian held out his palm and a crystal orb shimmered into existence above his hand, suspended midair like a summoned moon.Shock cracked through the hall like splintering glass. Mouths parted. Spines stiffened. The air turned electric. The room reacted as one, staggered, breathless, disbelieving.“The Crystal of Truth!” Princess Hannah choked out. “That hasn’t been summoned in — … ”“Centuries,” one of the elders whispered. The orb pulsed softly, illuminating the hall with a cold, otherworldly glow. Within its core, mist swirled, slow at first, then violently, as if sensing a lie in the room.“I heard that the crystal materializes only to protect the truth!”“Even the greatest kings have tried to summon it but the Crystal of Truth has its own will and lifeforce. It is rarest to rare to witness its existence!”“The Lycan King is truly great! He managed to achieve a miracle.”“Surely, the omega is doomed now.”“Yes. The crystal appear
Maya’s POV“BUT I DEMAND A FORMAL INVESTIGATION IN THE MATTER.”My pulse roared in my ears.It was HIM!I forgot to breathe. His sharp gaze, oozing danger turned soft, almost pleading when his eyes met mine.My mind raced back to his last parting words:“If you ever find yourself in any kind of trouble, find me. Find Sebastian Longstone, Prince of the Golden Lycan Pack. See you soon, Belle. Don’t forget this beast.”Every mysterious word, every whisper, every stolen scent that haunted my dreams, it all clicked into place.I shivered.Because standing before me wasn’t just the wounded boy who had begged for help, trying to save someone he loved despite the dangerous risks he took. No. Standing in the boy’s stead was a man. A powerful man.He had transformed, nay, ascended. The mysterious figure who held me with those magnificent, tattooed arms like bands of steel in the most dire times was actually the most radiant, dangerously handsome man I had ever seen. He was drop dead gorgeous, o
