Chapter 15

Her face paled, goosebumps formed on her skin. What kind of punishment was he talking about? The glint in his eyes—sinister—it definitely wasn’t a good kind.

If she could get out of this alive, she would never even look in the direction of those glass doors ever again.

She suddenly felt a warm liquid roll down her head, reminding her that she had hit her head on a stone and the wound hadn’t been taken care of yet. Her knees stung from how hard she had fallen too; she had scraped her knee, and it had begun to hurt really bad.

Her knees began to weaken, her eyes spun, and her body suddenly went lax. He let her head fall on his chest as she became unconscious.

………

The loud chirping of the birds made her lids fly open. Her eyes took in her surroundings—she was back in her room. Had it all been just a terrible dream? Leone had been in it, which made it more like a nightmare for her.

Her hands flew to her head to feel the small bandage. She checked her knees, and they were bandaged too. It had been no dream, all right.

The last thing she remembered was talking to Leone in the garden. How she had gotten back to her room was still a mystery to her. It had to be Leone. Why would he do that right after saying he was going to punish her?

Her eyes flew wide. Had he told Domenico and the Don that she had been trespassing in the garden that late at night? Oh no. Worry marred her forehead.

She had no idea what they would do to her if that was the case. Up until now, she had been treated like nothing but an esteemed guest, but the look in their eyes told her it would only take a snap of their finger for her to find herself behind iron bars in the dungeon.

Oh dear Lord, what would she do now? She had been unlucky—she didn’t find the exit, and not to talk about the trouble she had gotten herself into.

She had learnt before that staying in bed wouldn’t save her from the nosy butler. She quickly got out of bed and had her bath before the maids would arrive.

She wore a long gown that went past her knees. Thankfully, the wound on her head was something that could be hidden by her hair, and just like she had predicted, she heard a knock on the door. It was the butler.

He was a bit gobsmacked to see she was already dressed up, even when she had the habit of sleeping in. Anna didn’t miss the look of suspicion that passed through his eyes.

Her heart dropped when he told her she would be having breakfast with the Don. She wished she could just lie that she was sick in bed, but this butler had seen her alive and well.

She cracked her brain for ways to get out of this, but nothing came up. She cleared her throat and then returned her gaze back to the butler.

“I’m really not hungry. I had a big meal last night, and I think I might have indigestion,” she dug her fingers into her nails, mustering a smile that only came out tight.

She saw him arch his brows. Did he not believe her? “Very well then,” he nodded, and Anna finally let out the breath she had been holding in.

However, her face fell at his next words. “Boss Domenico and the Don simply want to have a talk with you, ma’am, so if you’ll be kind enough to follow me.” He stretched out his hand in the direction of the stairs.

Domenico?! When did he return, and why did it have to be so soon? Her hands became clammy at the newfound information.

A talk? Her face paled. And this butler—damn him! Not left with a second option, she nodded, her back stiff as she made her way down the stairs.

The butler tailed behind her but at a polite distance, and Anna felt his eyes on her back, like if he wasn’t careful, she’d slip out of his watch. Anna wished she could, but she couldn’t.

Her heart raced as she approached the dining hall. Did Domenico not have another weapon vault Leone could set on fire for her? She would even be more than glad to do it herself if that was what it took to save her neck.

There was no saving for her now. She finally got to the large dining hall. Her eyes fell on the Don, who sat at the head of the table, and Domenico, who sat beside him. And then Leone—he was here too? He sat two seats away from them.

Why didn’t the butler tell her Leone would also be here? She was beginning to not like him. Her fingers became cold—so did her feet.

“You don’t plan on standing there, do you, Anna?” The Don’s eyes nearly made her want to enter the ground.

She had been so lost in thought she didn’t realize how long she had been standing there.

“I’m sorry,” she quickly apologized, while slightly bowing her head.

She made her way to the table, and the butler drew a chair out for her. Unfortunately, it was one directly in front of Leone. This butler was a real thorn in her flesh.

She reluctantly sat down, feeling the weight of Leone’s gaze on her. Not just Leone, but Domenico and Enzo stared at her also.

She had hidden the wound with her hair, and the only thing that could save her now from immediate death was if Leone hadn’t told them already.

She mustered a small smile at Domenico, who returned it with a hard glare. She swallowed.

It was unlike her, but she wished he had gotten hit by a bus during his trip. But here he was again. Blood drained from her face at the thought of being put under the same predicament with him again.

Odd to say, but that was the least of her problems right now. She had to stay alive in order to face that problem.

“How was your night, Anna?” Enzo asked calmly.

“It was fine,” Anna mustered a smile.

After that, silence reigned in the room. Her brows arched in confusion. Did Leone really not tell them? He really didn’t. She silently sighed in relief.

“Did you hurt your head?” She looked up to find Leone staring at her. This devil! Her blood ran cold.

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 31: Burning Fireplace

Chapter 31She gulped saliva down her dry throat. How the hell was she going to get out of this now? The last time, Leone had saved her, but this time, she was scared that there might be no saving for her.The man showed them to their room, and her breath ceased when he left them alone. The room was extremely large and luxuriously furnished. Anna’s eyes fell back to him, her back nearly colliding with the door frame. He had taken off his jacket, leaving him with a white inner shirt, and now he busied himself with taking his wristwatch off.“Anna, come see this,” he raised his head up to stare at her, and Anna reluctantly pushed herself to stand next to him. He showed her the golden wristwatch which he had earlier worn. “It was purchased from the first goldsmith in Italy in 1971 by an ancestor from my father’s lineage,” he explained.Anna nodded. Although slightly interested, the only thing she wanted was to get the hell out of here. But if that was true, it meant the Vicenzo lineage

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 30: The Date

Chapter 30Anna’s eyes flew wide, her jaw nearly dropping in shock. Had she heard right? This man, who had been nothing but mean towards her since her arrival, was now saying he missed her? Good grief, what was going on here?Anna swallowed. He stared at her like he was expecting her to say something in return. Her mind clicked, and she cleared her throat. “I… I missed you too,” she stuttered, which was a white lie. She had totally forgotten about his existence—not when she was underneath his brother.Anna felt cold, conflicted, and shocked—shocked that Domenico was suddenly coming back to tell her that he missed her.“We’ll be going somewhere alone tomorrow night,” he said coolly. Her shoulders turned stiff.Domenico finally walked away, and Anna still felt this overwhelming cold overcome her. She was scared—too scared. Her eyes fell on Leone, who was still conversing with the Don, and she quickly turned to head back up the stairs.………..Anna paced nervously in her room, her hands cl

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 29: Bite Marks

Chapter 29Her brows knotted as the ray of sun came to fall on her face. Her eyes flew open, and her hand flew to cover her eyes from the sun. She slowly sat up on the bed, her eyes taking in her surroundings. She was in her room—on her bed.Was everything that happened a dream? Oh, she wished it was, but the shirt which she was wearing now told her otherwise. A black T-shirt which looked more like a gown on her body, and it was heavy with his scent, his cologne. What had she done? How could she let everything happen when she knew too well how things were at the moment? She liked Rocco. What was she saying? She loved him, with all her heart. So why? Why could she do that? This was wrong. If they found out—Domenico and the Don—they might have her killed or worse. How could she be so careless? She felt this guilt weigh on her heart. She shouldn’t have gone to his mansion, she shouldn’t have been worried about him. Then all of this could’ve been avoided.Anna ran her hand through he

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 28: Not A Gentleman

Chapter 28Anna’s eyes flew wide in shock. It felt like time paused at that moment as she watched him rip her nightie off with his manly strength. He covered her completely. She felt so small underneath him, underneath those wild gray orbs. He was the only thing she could see, feel, and even smell. His cologne wrapped her completely as she stared in a daze.Yes, it was all her fault. She told him to back off, but she had come here on her own. She hadn’t thought things through. She had been worried after seeing his wound, but she hadn’t foreseen the outcome. She hadn’t seen this coming at all.She saw a great amount of hunger in those orbs, and it felt like she had willingly sacrificed herself to him.His eyes latched on her now-exposed breasts, and she raised her trembling hands to his shoulder—a flimsy attempt to push him away—but it all ended with both her hands being pinned above her head. His nose trailed down the valley of her breasts. His warm breath made her toes curl. No, this

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 27: Be A Good Girl

Chapter 27Anna stood at her balcony, a glass of juice in her hand, which she drank from. The wind blew her hair, making it fall on her face, but she slowly tucked it behind her ear.Chiara had retired to her room for the night, giving her enough space for the words she had said to sink in. She had seen him that night, the way he had leisurely said it like it had nothing to do with her. Her heart raced, her cheeks burned. Anna gulped down the remaining content in the glass as her mind recalled the night of the Omerta ball.Acting crazy was his thing, but that night, it had been entirely different. He had been… possessive, like he owned her—owned her body. He had been raspy, like he had lost all patience with her. She hadn’t been aware of what she did, what warranted such behavior from him—well, aside from witnessing him committing an all-out murder, showing up in his tub naked, and trespassing that night when she should have been asleep—but her guts told her it wasn’t because of tha

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 26: Back Off

Chapter 26Anna sat on her sofa in her room while Chiara helped her undo her hair. Despite the fact she was currently in her room, she could still hear Leone’s voice, who stood right outside her room talking to the now recuperated butler. She felt anxious, exhausted, and overwhelmed by how the night had unfolded. Her head was in a mess, and it was all because of one person—Leone Vicenzo. She had fully convinced herself that his number one motive was to make her lose her mind—and watch it happen. “All done, ma’am,” Chiara said, and it was then she noticed her hair had been unclipped and it fell down her back. “Should I proceed with helping you take off the dress, ma’am?”Anna shook her head. “You can leave. Goodnight.”Chiara bowed politely and turned to leave, but even Anna easily noticed how scared she was to walk out the door—probably because the man who had been so hellbent on ending her life stood right outside. Her shoulders were stiff as her trembling hand held the doorknob.
