Chapter 3

Author: Sweet Cotton Candy
Nancy's eyes widened, and she clutched her phone tightly. She felt like a bucket of ice-cold water had been poured over her. Her blood ran cold, and she felt frozen.

The comments went nuts, but people who had dropped by the live stream didn't believe Hannah.

"She's just bragging. How can someone just gift an amusement park like that?"

"She also said her mysterious boyfriend gave her Luscombe Manor, but she couldn't show us the deed. I bet even this boyfriend is fake!"

Hannah looked aggrieved. "Why don't you guys believe me?"

She pulled two property deeds from her bag. "This is the property deed for this amusement park, and this is for Luscombe Manor. Why would I lie about these things? My boyfriend loves me to bits!"

The amusement park couldn't compare to Luscombe Manor in terms of value—the manor was worth at least 500 million dollars.

Hannah's fans went mad again while Nancy remained frozen. Hansen had given Luscombe Manor, which Nancy had been eyeing for a long time, to Hannah.

That was where Nancy and her parents had once lived. Nancy's mother had later sold the place, and the person who'd bought it had put it up for sale half a year ago because they needed money.

It had later been snatched by someone else, and she'd been too late. Now, she learned Hansen was the one who'd bought the place. He'd even given it to Hannah…

How could he be so cruel? Nancy's face turned ashen.

Suddenly, the sound of a gift effect came from her phone. She looked down to see that someone had given Hannah hundreds of the most expensive gifts.

Both Nancy's and Hannah's expressions shifted when they saw who the person was. The gifts came with a comment from a user named HanInHan. "I love you, too, Hannah."

Hannah said excitedly, "My boyfriend is here! I'm sure you guys believe how much he loves me now!"

The live stream was abuzz again. This time, everyone congratulated Hannah and her "boyfriend".

Meanwhile, Nancy's mind went blank. She couldn't even look at her phone anymore.

HanInHan was Hansen's secondary account. At the time, she'd wondered why he'd named it as such, but she had her answer now. It was short for "Hansen in Hannah".

Hannah continued cheerily, "I'm gonna end the live stream here, guys. I can't wait to see my boyfriend now!"

She soon ended the live stream, but Nancy remained dazed until after the screen went dark. She was stunned, especially after hearing Hannah say that she couldn't wait to see her boyfriend…

Her legs felt like they'd been filled with lead, but she suddenly ran out. She wanted to know whether Hansen would go to Hannah. She wanted to demand answers, to know why he was doing this to her!

However, before Nancy could get to the restaurant, she saw Hansen hurry out. He looked anxious. She skidded to a stop and hid before she could process the situation. At the same time, her phone rang.

She looked down at the caller ID. It felt like a fist was clenched around her heart. She almost couldn't breathe. Still, she answered the call. "Hello?"

"Nance, I have to leave to deal with something at work. You can wait for me here or take a cab home later," Hansen said.

Nancy couldn't stop trembling. "What if I forbid you from leaving?"

"I still have to go. I'm leaving to deal with something urgent at work, okay? Be good, and don't kick up a fuss!" Hansen's tone took on an obvious hint of impatience. "You have no idea how busy I am now that you don't go to work."

He hung up after that and hurried off without hesitation.

Nancy was left standing there. Her eyes were red from unshed tears. Hansen's words reverberated in her mind. She had no idea how busy he was because she'd stopped going in, huh? Wasn't he the one who'd stopped her from going because he wanted her to be a stay-at-home wife?

Everything she did was right when he loved her, but now, he only thought she was kicking up a fuss. She bet Hannah was the only thing that mattered to him now!

Nancy's head shot up, and she ran after Hansen. She watched as he drove off and hailed a cab. She said to the driver, "Follow that Maybach."

The driver didn't understand the command but immediately agreed when she saw the stack of cash Nancy handed to her. "Alright. Sit tight."

Nancy clenched her fists tightly when she saw the Maybach weave through traffic. Its driver was evidently in a rush to meet his lover.

She watched as Hansen got out of the car after pulling up in front of a hotel. He'd barely stood still when Hannah, who was dressed in a maid outfit, threw herself at him. She wrapped her legs around his toned waist and cried, "Hanny!"

That wasn't the end of it. She even grabbed his hand and placed it underneath her skirt. "Do you like this?"

Hansen's Adam's apple bobbed. His eyes burned with lust. "You slut."

"Do you like it or not?" She gave him a saucy look. "I won't wear this again if you don't."

"Would I have come if I didn't like it?" He chuckled wickedly.

Hannah kissed him and smirked suggestively. "Should we start by having some fun in the car?"

Hansen raised an eyebrow and looked at her while she smiled shyly. His Adam's apple bobbed again as he lost control and threw her into the car. Then, he joined her inside.

The door slammed shut, and the car soon started shaking violently.

Nancy watched them, feeling like the scene before her was stabbing her eyes. She thought she'd cried all the tears she had last night, but it turned out that her heart still hurt upon witnessing Hansen's betrayal.

To this day, she remembered the first time she'd rejected him. He hadn't given up and had instead said, "You can turn me down, Nancy, but I'll use the rest of my life to prove how much I love you! You're the only woman I have eyes for—no one else compares."

Nancy smiled, but it made her look worse than if she were crying. The pain was so heart-wrenching and intense that it gave the shock she'd gotten when first seeing those photos of Hansen a run for its money.

She'd never known him to be so urgent when it came to these things.

The driver looked at Nancy, who couldn't speak. She said sympathetically, "All men cheat, miss. Even my husband… But I have a child, and I can't bring myself to ask for a divorce whenever I see him. Maybe you should just let this go."

She started weeping toward the end of her sentence.

"Let this go? Why should I?" Nancy took a deep breath. Her lips trembled as she spoke, but her expression was resolute. "I won't let him off the hook for this. I don't want a dirtied man!"

She would just think of it as falling for the wrong person. She'd given her heart to the wrong man! She didn't love Hansen anymore, but he deserved death for betraying her. She'd used the past month to accept that she could no longer love him, and it finally worked at that moment.

Nancy went home in a daze and stared at the necklace she wore.

"Only One", huh?

Fuck that.

She sold the necklace and all her jewelry, including her wedding ring. Hansen wouldn't see her for the rest of his life in a matter of days, anyway.

Then, she grabbed her luggage and continued packing her things. She did this for three hours before finally feeling tired. Then, she got up to get herself some coffee.

Before she could take a sip, Hansen ran in, looking panicked. His hands trembled as he grabbed Nancy's shoulders. "Why did you sell 'Only One,' Nancy? And even our wedding ring! Is this your way of getting back at me just because I left you at the amusement park?"

She looked at him and saw how out of control his expression was. His eyes burned with rage. She winced from his tight grip and said, "Let go of me, Hansen."

"I won't! You know 'Only One' represents my love for you, yet you sold it and our wedding ring! You've crossed the line!" His handsome features were heavily contorted, though he felt an inexplicable sense of uneasiness consuming the initial rage he had been feeling. "How can you be so cruel, Nancy? I told you I had work, didn't I? What else do you want me to do?"

The rage Nancy had suppressed burst forth when she saw the hideous look on Hansen's face. Who was the cruel one here? Her or him? Had he actually been dealing with work, or had he been busy doing Hannah?

Her rationality snapped, and she was about to demand answers when her phone buzzed on the bed. She immediately calmed down after being interrupted, and Hansen turned to look at her phone.

"Who's looking for you, Nance?" he asked.

Nancy followed his line of sight, and a glance at the caller ID made her heart race. The call was from the employee handling the erasure of her identity!

The night outside had grown darker and heavier. At some point, the sky had turned completely black.Hansen stared at his phone's black screen with an extremely stormy expression. Nancy hadn't contacted him all day!She really was brushing off everything he said like it meant nothing. Or... was she actually planning to divorce him?Sitting on the bed, Hannah watched him silently. Then, she said with reddened eyes and a pitiful tone, "Hanny, maybe we should just let it go."I'm not that fragile. I don't need Ms. Nancy to apologize... Someone like me is used to being treated this way."Hansen's face darkened even more. He stood up abruptly."Things can't be left like this. Nancy nearly caused you to miscarry—everyone saw it! I'm going to bring her here right now and make her apologize. You deserve justice!"As soon as the words left his mouth, Hansen turned and stormed out. Hannah watched him leave, and there was a trace of something unreadable flickering in her eyes.Nancy was cl

How could you do this? This is murder!"Hansen pushed through the crowd. He picked up Hannah, who was on the verge of passing out from the pain, and glared furiously at Nancy.Nancy showed no panic. Hearing Hansen's accusation, she replied indifferently, "It's Nigel's child. Why are you the one so worked up?"Hansen was livid. "You—""Enough arguing! Let's get her to the hospital now!" Hannah immediately sensed something was wrong and instinctively tugged at Hansen's hand. "Mr. Holland, my stomach—"Before she could finish the word "hurts", Nigel answered truthfully, "Jacob's notorious for being despicable and shameless in the industry. He's got some business sense, but his reputation is terrible. "Why are you asking about him?""Oh? Why am I asking?" Gavin sneered, his gaze shifting to Hansen.Hansen seemed to realize something. His face turned pale as he stared at Nancy while his heart pounded violently. "Cece, Jacob wouldn't dare, right?"Nancy didn't answer directly. Instead, she looked at Hansen. Her clear eyes were filled with nothing but mockery."Does it matter? Weren't you too busy to stay back then?"Hansen's heart raced, and he could no longer hold back. He rushed forward and grabbed Nancy's hand. "Let's go home…"Nancy, however, forcefully shook off his hand and took two steps back. Her expression was now cold and distant."I'm Gavin's date toda

Nancy responded indifferently, "It has been a while since I've dressed like this."Gavin noticed Nancy's low spirits, especially the dark circles under her eyes, and sensed something was wrong. It was clear she and Hansen had argued.Avoiding the topic, Gavin stood up with a smile. "Let's head to the banquet. The traffic might be bad today."An hour later, when Gavin escorted Nancy into the venue, they immediately drew everyone's attention."Oh my, Mr. Fenwick brought a stunning beauty to Mr. Fenwick Senior's birthday banquet. I was planning to introduce my sister to him!""That beauty looks so familiar... Wait, isn't that Mrs. Holland, Nancy Shaw?""Why didn't Mr. Holland bring Mrs. Holland himself? Hannah wore a look of wounded innocence. "Hanny, you left your phone at home... I was scared you might lose control and do something to Ms. Nancy…"Hansen froze for a moment. Nancy's pale, devastated face flashed through his mind again, and a sharp, relentless pain clawed at his chest.Hannah gently took Hansen's hand in hers. "Hanny, you love Ms. Nancy so much. She's just confused right now. She'll come back to you one day. I'm sure of it."Hansen's expression darkened once more. He abruptly raised his head and stared at Hannah. Hannah threw her arms around him with red-rimmed eyes."Hanny, you and Ms. Nancy just have too many misunderstandings. Why don't I go talk to her? We're both women—maybe I can speak her language... mmm!"Her words were cut off mid-sentence. She hadn't expected Hansen to kiss her so suddenly, but she quickly gave in as she tilted her head to accept his rough kiss.Just then, her eyes flicked upward toward the second floor. "Nancy Shaw, you slut! All I asked was for you to sign the contract, and you actually dared to seduce Gavin behind my back?"If I hadn't sent a detective to follow you, I wouldn't have known you were cheating on me!"Nancy's breathing grew labored, and her face turned pale and then purplish. She listened to Hansen's words and sneered. "Isn't this exactly what you wanted?"He had left her with a scumbag like Jacob just to go looking for Hannah!Hansen clearly misunderstood. He never expected Nancy to admit to it.All reason left him, especially he thought of the photos of Nancy and Gavin embracing, with Nancy disheveled and wearing Gavin's coat.Hansen slammed Nancy down onto the couch and began tearing at her blouse.
