“Mall?” I asked. “Bub, I don’t think that’s a good idea right now.”
There would be too many people in the mall, and with the issue regarding Evan, I believed it was best we stayed away from the public's eyes when we were all together.
“It’s too crowded. Do you want to go to a restaurant instead? There would be lesser people.
“But I want to go to the mall, Mommy,” Andy softly said, causing my heart to soften. Again, it was rare for him to ask for such things, so seeing him like this made me want to heed his request.
“We’re going to the mall,” Evan said with a wide smile.
“Evan,” I said, but he looked me in the eyes and uttered, “I’ll protect you. I promise.”
I pursed my lips and nodded. “But we’re going home during the rush hour. We don’t want to alert the reporters.”
Evan nodded and even saluted. “Yes, ma’am.”
I shook my head in amusement.
The three of us finally arrived at the mall. Evan made me wear his hoodie, which smelled so much like him.
“Wear this for now, hmm?”
