“Ms. Steele, Ms. Steele,” the flustered receptionist called after me as I walked into Christopher’s office.
Christopher looked up from his laptop, there was a frown on his face as he watched me come in through the door.
“It’s okay, Pauline,” he said to his receptionist.
She nodded and then looked at me, her eyes still wide with panic from me barging into her boss’ office.
“Hello Cara, or should I say, CEO?” he grinned.
I could hear the mockery in his voice and my anger rose but I fought it down. I could not lose my cool, I needed to be better than that.
I tucked my jacket and walked over to his table and sat down, making myself comfortable.
He watched me and then leaned back, “What can I do for you?”
