I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Like, literally, my brain couldn’t process it. I just stood there in the doorway, frozen, staring at them. They didn’t even notice anyone enter.
My heart felt like it had been ripped to shreds, like someone had reached into my chest and yanked it out with bare hands. It hurt. It hurt so much. Tears welled up in my eyes, my lips quivered, my hands trembled as I stared at them.
