Toon Woods POV

Before I could stand up from the bed, my domestic staff was already inside my room, crying her eyes out.

“What's the problem, Maggie?” I asked.

While I asked her the question, numerous negative thoughts invaded my mind.

I tried so hard not to believe them, even though I knew it was obvious.

Rather, I decided to listen to what my staff had to say.

“It's Kelly,” she briefly said.

It wasn't the response I had anticipated.

Her response to my question further increased my blood pressure.

Maggie's utterances kept me in suspense, which didn't sit well with me.

I didn't know when I yelled at Maggie, warning her to speak up and stop playing games with me.

“This is your last chance to spill it, Maggie. The next time won't be funny,” I warned Maggie.

“Kelly was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed in the living room this morning,” Maggie finally spilled.

“What?”

I screamed my lungs out and died a thousand times.

I thought it was a joke until Maggie confirmed that Angela had taken Kelly to the family's hospital.

“Just go immediately. Thank you for the information,” I dismissed Maggie and returned to my room.

I didn't know what to do next. Like the pages of a new notebook, my head was blank.

I could barely think of a solution to save my life.

What baffles me the most is that Angela never alerted me.

If Maggie never showed up in my room, perhaps I'd still be in the dark.

The thought of that completely changed my mood. I didn't even know how to react anymore.

“Does that mean she doesn't regard me anymore as her husband?

Or could the altercation we had the previous night be the reason she didn't bother telling me about Kelly?”

I asked myself.

Numerous questions paraded my mind. I had to let go, knowing that nobody was around to respond to the questions.

With a move too fast, I had a quick bath and got dressed in a casual outfit.

Unlike the previous days when I usually take my time to get ready.

I realized that my son's life was far more important than slaying in an outfit.

I quickly headed for the living room, where I met the other domestic staff seated.

They all wore sad looks as though someone had died. I didn't like the atmosphere I witnessed.

It made me more scared that my son might not make it out alive.

“Duncan, come over here,”

I called one of the staff.

Duncan is my gardener. He also happens to be one of my oldest domestic staff.

Due to his longevity, I made him the head of the other staff.

The others respect him the same way they do to me.

“Take care of the house.

I'll be back. I need to know what's wrong with my son in the hospital,”

I ordered Duncan before leaving.

I wasn't worried about entrusting my mansion into the hands of Duncan.

I already knew that he would have everything under control.

I drove in my Bentley car straight to the hospital.

While I drove, I grabbed my phone to call Angela, and she ignored me.

A thousand times I called, but not for once, did she respond.

I got so fed up trying to reach out to Angela and decided to give up.

“This isn't worth the stress. Besides, we are going to meet at the hospital anyway,” I told myself.

After a few minutes, I was already in the hospital.

Like a sprinter, I ran towards the reception, where some other nurses stood to attend to people.

“Please where's my son?

His name is Kelly.

He was rushed inside the hospital by my wife, Angela,” I explained to one of the nurses.

I hate the fact that I had to still address Angela as my wife after what she did to me.

On second thought, I realized I had no choice.

It was the only way I would be allowed to see my son.

“Hold on a second,” the nurse said to me after scanning through her file

After a thorough check, she lifted her head towards me and said, “I am sorry, your wife and son aren't here. Are you sure she brought him to this hospital?”

The question echoed inside my head like a bell. I couldn't respond to the question immediately.

I wasn't a dumbass, yet I appeared like a fool in the presence of the nurse.

“This must be a joke. I believe there is a mix-up somewhere.

Please go through the file again. I'm damn certain my son was admitted here,” I insisted.

I wasn't ready to give up without a fight.

It was hard for me to believe that Angela didn't bring Kelly to the hospital.

“If she isn't here, then where could she be?” I asked rhetorically.

It was the question that stuck in my lips for a very long time.

“At this point, I think you need to leave. I've got other patients waiting for me in the ward.” The nurse said to me,

It came as a surprise to me when I saw the nurse leaving the reception.

I couldn't have stopped her from leaving, even though I was desperate for a response.

“Hey, Mr. Woods.

What a pleasant surprise,”

a voice said to me

I looked around and discovered that it was Dr. Lorenzo Mendez, my family doctor.

I had no idea that I was going to have an encounter with him.

He's been my family Doctor since I got married to my first wife.

I consider him the greatest doctor of all time.

“Hey, Doc.

How are you doing today?” I greeted but with a sad face.

I didn't seem like someone who wanted to entertain irrelevant talk.

I couldn't wait for the conversation to be done so I could leave to go find Angela and Kelly.

“Is anything the matter?

Do you wanna talk about it?

Or is it about your son, Kelly?” The doctor asked me.

"Wait a minute!

Did you just say my son, Kelly?'

I made an upraised arm to stop the doctor from speaking further.

I had no idea how he got to find out about the incident that occurred at my house.

It could only mean one thing!

You weren't the only one who heard the voice. It is safe to say that your ears lead you in the right direction. Let's listen to what the son of a bitch has to say,”Marcus replied.I was relieved by his utterances. It confirmed that I wasn't losing my mind after all.Patrick stepped forward. And don't you dare miss out on any details,” Patrick ordered Sean. For a moment, I was impressed by his moves. That was the only sensible thing that has been done over the last couple of hours. I gave him the run of his life that he would never forget rushing. “What's the meaning of this madness, Patrick? Have you suddenly lost your manners? Are you starting to hear things that aren't real?” Patrick mocked me. He didn't think I was telling the truth. “Have you forgotten the reason we are here? Let's go inside quickly before she escapes,” he urged me, but I refused. I was resilient and focused on my instincts. “I might be old, but certainly not dumb or stupid. I knew what I heard. That was Kelly's voice,” I challenged Patrick.I didn't allow him to control my thoughts. I left the doorway and strolled around my mansion, trying to trace the voice I heard. “Papa, please come,”I heard the voice calling me for the second time. I traced the voice to the garage and saw Angela and Kelly seated inside the car. I tried to get closer to them, but she drove off. I didn't try to run after the car, knowing it would be pointless to do that. For the second consecut

How did this happen? Where are the fucking nurses?” The doctor screamed. He slammed the wall to demonstrate his rage. He was about to leave when I held him back. “Where the heck are you going?”“What the heck is this? Let go of me,” he requested.“I want to summon all the nurses to know who was on duty,” he explained.I was ruthless!I refused to let him go, knowing that he was the reason for Angela's escape. If he hadn't hesitated when I called for her arrest, Angela would be sleeping behind bars already.“Oh, come on, Tony. You know I have nothing to do with this. I was only trying to protect the image of my hospital,” he claimed. That was the lamest excuse I've ever heard. The excuse made me even more angry. I wasn't conscious of my act anymore.
