Chapter: Lylah's Rebirth
LYLAH'S REBIRTH Lylah's POV “Ethan! Leave!” I yelled. The footsteps of the guard kept coming closer and closer. It was too late, so I felt. I had to act fast. I lowered my head as I blew out the lantern. “Please Ethan, leave. I wouldn't want you to die because it wouldn't be worth living knowing you're dead.” I said.I had hoped this would change his mind. His grip slowly loosen, I felt a cool breeze blew past me and I knew he was gone. I broke down into tears as I curled myself up crying, just like the day my father was exiled and executed. Ethan had walked through these dungeon halls ever since he was a child, his mother spent months in the dungeon before being executed and Ethan was the one to run these hallways every night without lanterns to guide him just to give his mother enough food. They would never find him in the dark, not when he had lived there for too long. “Who were you talking to? Someone was here? Who was that?” The guard yelled as he approached me, his huge l

Chapter: The Cold News
Lylah's POVThe evening came along with an indifferent cold. My body felt so cold as I curled myself up in a corner. I blew hot air from my mouth into my palms as I rubbed them together, placing them on my face that was already frozen. I even thought it might fall off. The rats squealed at the other end, I could hear the sounds of them moving in distress within the walls of the dungeon, I guess they're equally as cold as I was. The guards that usually stood outside were unavailable today. In cold times like this they usually move to the upper layer of the dungeon. The hallway outside the dungeon was very dark as they left no light to act as a guide or even keep the dungeon warm. What an inhumane treatment, I might be an outcast but I'm still a wolf, just like them. I rested my head on my knees as I shut my eyes closed, hoping I might open it and all of this would be a dream. Suddenly, I felt a bright but subtle light that made me squint. I opened my eyes only to see a familiar face

Chapter: Lylah's Rejection
“This is outrageous!” Alpha Harris yelled, his voice vibrating through the room breaking the domineering silence that once filled the room. A bead of sweat rolled down Lylah's neck. Was I just being rejected? She thought inwardly. The look in Alpha Harris' eyes was filled with utmost disgust and anger. She couldn't tell where it came from. “Who let an outcast into the sacred mating ball?” Alpha Harris questioned, however, his questioning was meant with silence. This silence angered him further. Lylah took a few steps back as she could no longer feel her legs, it suddenly became numb. “Guards! Guards!” Alpha Harris yelled. Three guards trooped in. “Take her and lock her in the dungeon till I decide her fate!” The guards walked towards her as their hands enveloped her fragile arms and they dragged her out of the hall. She didn't speak, this wasn't the time to. Lylah remained silent as she was dragged out of the mating ball. She could feel the piercing stares of Victoria from behin

Chapter: The Fourth Mating Ball
Lylah's POV“This is the fourth mating ball in four years, we could say our alpha is impotent.” A man from within the crowd that filled the expansive and opulent hall said. As I walked through the crowd at a calculated pace, I could hear whispers from every corner of the room. It's been four years since Alpha Dawson mysteriously died and his son Harris was made Alpha of the Duskwood Pack. Ever since Harris' ascension, he had faced pressure from the council of elders and even his Beta, Malakai, to find a Luna for the pack. Several mating balls were held but it all ended in broken anticipations and disappointment. It was my first time attending the mating ball ceremony because I've been deprived of the privilege of attending because of my status—an outcast and an omega. My father was framed for treason and because of that, he was executed and afterwards my mother disappeared leaving me with my aunt, Malicia, who treated me like I wasn't one of them—like I didn't belong. My appearance

Chapter: The Proposal II
Elena’s POV I had no idea who this lady is or whatever connection she thinks she has with me and I am certainly not a gold digger. “I think you have mistaken me for someone else.” I said, trying to ease down the boiling tension. “You’re funny.” Victoria said letting out a loud and contagious laugh. “Aren’t you the alleged wife of Adrian?” Adrian? Why does that name sounds familiar? I know this man. “Who is Adrian? I have no idea who he is.” I said, my hands holding my other as goosebump invaded my body. “Damn! He had to choose a psychopath over me.” Victoria said in low murmurs. “What do you mean by that? Are you going crazy? I can’t believe that he is trying to replace me with a mad woman like you.” “I’m not a mad woman neither am I trying to take your place. I have no business with you, Victoria. This has been a big misunderstanding and mix up.” I said, my voice trembling. “Are you calling me a liar?” Victoria asked. “I never said that but actually I think you are.

Chapter: The Proposal
Elena’s POV “You’re not my husband. I don’t remember getting married. I don’t even remember you.” I said. The man was quiet for a moment. He walked up to me and cupped my chin with his hands. “Well, you’ll have to find out if we are married or not.” The man said. Find out? What does he mean I have to find out? Dr. Bernice walked in with a file held tightly against his chest. “I have her documents ready. She can be discharged now.” Dr. Bernice said, stretching the documents before the director, his hands shaking. The man released my chin. “Get her ready and ensure she’s delivered to the address I sent to your mail.” He said, stepping out of the room. “Who is he?” I spat out. “The reason you’re still alive. Get ready to be discharged, you’ll be going to the Blackwoods mansion.” Dr. Bernice said taking the drip off my hand. Blackwoods? The name sounds familiar. “I’m not going anywhere!” I yelled. I held the frame of the bed. “It wasn’t a request. You’re t

Chapter: The Forced Affair
Elena’s POV my eyes slowly opened and all I could hear was slow and subtle beeping from a medical device positioned opposite me. A drip was fixated on my hand. I was confused. Where was I? I tried to sit up but I felt a sharp pain on my head and my memories surged. I was hit by an incoming car while trying to avoid the stranger who had called me—the stranger. The thought invaded my mind and I quickly scan the ward with my eyes in search of my phone but it was nowhere to be find. In my state of confusion a nurse walked in, she was a red head and had freckles that complimented her. She was slender, tall and could pass for a model. The nurse noticed my confusion and gestured towards me, drawing my attention. “Have you seen my phone? I need my phone!” I asked, looking tensed. “You have to relax. You just survived a major accident, it’s a miracle how you’re still alive. I’m nurse Eva and I’ll be in charge of you.” Nurse Eva said, her smile still plastered on her face like a

Chapter: Chapter Four: The Scandal
Elena's POV I shove a spoon of soup into my mouth. I remembered everything as my head that was in a mess began to clear up. I had met with him at an event, he was the CEO of the Blackwoods Conglomerate. While in my thoughts I got a call from Maggie, my sister. I watched as the phone rang on the table, slowly vibrating. I was hesitant at first but at the third ring I picked up. “Where have you been?!” Maggie yelled. I could feel the anger and urgency in her voice. Something was off. “I told you I was off to cover an event among the elites last night. I had a really bad night and an awful morning so I'm not in the mood for your early morning rants today.” I said, resting my head on my hands. “This isn't about how your night went or how your day is going, have you seen the news? What have you been up to? Were you only covering the event or covering the CEO of the Blackwoods Conglomerate?” Maggie said, bluntly. “What do you mean?” I asked, I wiped my eyes with my hands as I sat upri

Chapter: Chapter Three: The Cold Treatment
Elena’s POV The bed felt so soft, the smell from the bed sheet smelt different. I rolled over, the bed quite bigger than the bed I was used to. My hands slowly pat the empty side of the bed only to feel pillows, as I turned, a sharp beam of light flashes through the curtains poking my eyes. I squinted immediately, my hands rubbing my eyes. I turned to see a man standing by the window side at the other end. I looked at the room, taking it all in. The large floor to ceiling window was draped in expensive curtains and the room was large enough to contain five king size beds. By the corner of the room was a mini bar with all kinds of wines in stock. I turned, my eyes darting towards the empty wine glass on the bed side table, a half burnt cigarette and a half filled glass of wine. My gaze went back to the man standing by the window. He was adjusting his cufflinks, he stood there not bothered by my obvious confusion. I tried to recall what happened but my head aches, it suddenly felt he

Chapter: Chapter Two: The One Night Stand
Elena's POV The kiss started as an accident, a brief brush of lips fueled by too much wine and something unspoken in the air between us. But the second one—that wasn’t a mistake. That was deliberate. Slow.Adrian’s hand curled around the back of my neck, drawing me closer. His lips moved against mine with a confidence that made my stomach clench. I could taste the wine on his tongue, warm and heady, mixing with my own.I should have pulled away. Should have remembered who he was, where we were. But logic was a distant whisper, drowned out by the thundering of my pulse.Somewhere in the background, a polite cough broke through the haze. I pulled back slightly, my breath coming too fast, my skin too hot.Adrian’s gaze was heavy-lidded, unreadable. “Let’s get out of here,” he murmured.A warning bell rang faintly in the back of my mind, but it was overpowered by the way his fingers traced slow, deliberate circles against my thigh.I exhaled shakily. “Where?”His lips curved into a smirk
