MINE

*******************

Balthazar's POV

*******************

"Penny for your thoughts." I heard Phoebe say. She was already so close to me and I didn't notice

"Phoebe!, I didn't hear you come in," I replied and gave her a weak smile.

"You have always been able to catch my scent miles away; are you okay." She sounded concerned.

"Seat with me." I gestured towards an empty seat beside me. "Now tell me how was your day."

"Same as always, today was a bit slow though."

"Some days are like that, the important thing here is to enjoy your work," I replied. Reaching out I held my lunas hands, to me, she was the fairest amongst the women in the pack.

I met her when he went to the neighboring pack to get some tools for his workshop. I had made the trip with my Beta Demetrius.

Phoebe was the sales attendant at the workshop and she had the sweetest voice and the most beautiful smile I had ever seen. I had never been sexually attracted to any female before but Phoebe's red hair and laughing grey eyes melted my heart. I wasn't sure she was my mate even though I could smell her sweet and alluring fragrance.

Immediately we got home from our shopping, I made another plan to go to the store just to see Phoebe and also confirm if the strong scent was coming from her this time around. I went alone without my Beta.

I wasn't wrong after all, this time the scent was stronger and I also had the opportunity to talk to Phoebe who stood at 5'6 against my 6'0. She was someone that could not be ignored even if you tried.

A month later I made up my mind to talk to her. I had never had a romantic conversation with any female in our pack or outside our pack.  This made me very self-conscious, most of my days were spent in the company of Demetrius and out making friends.

Bracing up, I pep-talked myself, "I'm the alpha of one of the largest packs in the west, I've fought wars, hunting deer. What's in talking to a woman?" But the closer I got to her I started developing cold feet.

"Hi, my name is Balthazar." I sounded like a pompous prick. Clearing my throat, I reintroduced myself. My mother, rest her soul used to say that first impression mattered.

"Good day, my name is Balthazar from the mountain pack pride."

"I know that already, I'm Phoebe." She said smiling. Her smile made my knees weak.

"How did you know...I, mean, I never introduced myself to you," I replied I couldn't figure out why I sounded dumb each time I spoke.

"Let's just say that I have my ways." This time she started laughing, it was so contagious that I joined her in the laughter.

"So, what do you want to buy or return today." She said.

At first, I was confused then it dawned on me that I had been coming over almost every day for the same purpose. Getting a grip of myself I decided to come out plain to her.

"Months search for a mate." I looked serious and her reaction was not what I expected.

"We don't sell them here." She sounded so serious that I was left shocked.

"Oh my goodness." She laughed so hard gaining some stares our way. "I was just joking, but we don't sell mates though."

I made up my mind to pursue her, I didn't know if she wasn't drawn to me or can't perceive my scent but she was the woman I wanted to be. spent my entire life with.

"Would you be available for a date tomorrow? We could go watch a movie."

"Yes, I would like that."

"Good. Now I want to return this tool, I don't need it after all." This brought another round of laughter between us. I could bet my life then that no moment with her would be boring.
