Kira's pov

I finally got up after a long chats with Ryan and Rhian's teacher.

The teacher had told me how the children had been behaving positively.

Then, she told me to get new uniforms and shoes for them cause they'd be going for a competition out of the state.

I should be able to gather money to buy new uniforms and shoes for them.

"Thank you. I need to go now." I said to the teacher and took my leave.

I went back to the restaurant to continue my job.

"Miss, I need french fries with a glass of juice please." An old man said to me as I adjusted my skirt straight.

"Okay sir, do you need anything again?" I asked.

"Oh no, I dont need anything for now, Pretty." The man flashed his milk-like teeth out.

I scoffed inwardly, taking my leave.

I always get a compliment from both men and women. Calling me pretty, beautiful and all that.

But I tried to ignore those compliments and do my job.

"The man over there, needs French fries and a glass of juice." I said to Lolita and she nodded with a smile.

"You know that man over there has the biggest company in the state." She said, taking the juice from the refrigerator and poured it into a glass cup.

"So?" I took the tray in front of me. Feeling uninterested in whatever she wants to say.

"Yeah. His son has gone for a long time now and Olivia told me he'd be coming back soon to take over his Father's business."

"Have seen him once. He's f*cking handsome, hot and sexy Kira. You really need to see him."Lolita squeaked, handling me the French fries and glass of juice to me.

"I wonder why he loves coming to this place out of all the expensive restaurants." She added.

"You're done talking?" I asked, collecting the fries and juice, then put them on the tray.

"Oh Kira! You're so mean! Whatever!" Lolita rolled her eyes and turned back to whatever she was doing.

I smiled and answered, "Whatever too!"

I took the tray to the old man and turned to go back to the other customers if they might need anything but I was called back.

By the man.

Argh! I hate talking to men for so long. 2 minutes talk is enough cause Daniel made me hate men.

Perhaps, all men are the same.

"Yes? You need anything again?"

"Hmm...no actually, I had really admired your working energy here. I see how determined and responsible you are." The man stopped while I slowly tapped my feet on the ground. Waiting patiently for him to conclude his speech.

It's a good thing he's an old man. And i respect old people than the youths.

Instead, i would have told him to stop beating around the bush and go straight to the point.

"Can you work in my company?" The words jolted me out of my reverie.

I blinked my eyes rapidly, staring at the old man.

My mind which was far away came back to me.

"Sir, I should work with you? What type of work?" I asked, keenly.

Somehow I wanted the job. That's if it's a better job. A job I'd be able to handle.

"Yes. You can work as my personal assistant. My assistant resigned some months ago." The man answered, as he took one of the fries and ate.

"Hmm.....are you getting anything in return?"

I know men. They'd give you something good but will ask for another thing in return. Like your body.

Men are the brothers of devil.

"Yes." He replied sharply.

A frown appeared on my face and I felt the urge to ask what was that.

"What?"

"I need your handworkingness and all those good attributes in you. Wait! You thought I'd ask for your body in return?

I can never ask that. Am not the type of man. Not all men are the same." The man said, chuckled and took another French fry.

I gulped. His last words rang in my ear repeatedly.

"Not all men are the same."

Really? Not all?

Somehow, I'm believing this man. But I still can't trust him.

I don't trust again.

Trust is no more in my dictionary anymore. Daniel cleared it.

I thought of the job. Being a personal assistant to this man who owns the biggest company in the state just has Lolita said, could be good.

I thought of the salary. It could be twice better than this one.

"Sir, I will think about it later." I finally said.

"Okay, I will give you my business card right now. When you're done thinking about it, and you're ready to work in the company, you call me." The man spoke, dipping his hand into his trouser pocket and brought out a card.

I collected it thankfully, and turned to go.

I glanced at the card. I took a deep breath. Then, I remembered something. Just seeing the card made me remember something.

But am not in for that now.

I put the card into my breast pocket and walked to the other side to ask for the customer's orders who had came In not long ago.

3:00pm, I took my bag and left the restaurant to go take my kids.

I got to their school and met Rhian arguing with some boys.

Alone with boys made my heart beat faster.

She shouldn't be alone. Where's Ryan?

"You should see how your mom look like a ghost in that white gown and ugly make up she had on." Rhian insulted.

"My mom is far better than you. Moreover, I do have a father. Am not like you." One of the boys said and moved forward to Rhian.

I watched. Yeah, I wanna see what he's going to do with my daughter.

Beat her up? Oh he wouldn't dare!

"If you touch my sister, I'd hit you with this." I heard Ryan's hoarse voice.

I turned and saw him holding two long sticks like cane in his hands.

He swiftly turned and saw me. He immediately dropped the sticks and tapped Rhian.

The two slowly walked up to me while the children ran away seeing me too.

"Mom, we are sorry. We disobeyed you. We couldn't stand seeing you insulted." Ryan whimpered as he ran to hug me.

"Me too, mom" Rhian said, hugging me too.

"It's okay dearies. Let's go home." I said to them.

I took their school bags and walked them out of the school gate.

Waiting for a cab to come, Rhian said something.

"Mom, someone bought us ice cream while waiting for you." She rushed her words.

"Huh? How can you take something from a stranger? Don't do that again!" I stated.

"Yes, mom. But........"

"He gave us money again." She lowered her voice.

"His face look like that of ..........." Rhian cut Ryan off.

She glared at him then faced me.

"Mom, don't mind him. Here's the money. We promise not to collect anything from a stranger again." Rhian took out a bundle of money from her bag which was with me.

I gasped. "How could you collect such money from someone?" I frowned at them.

"Mom, I didn't wanna collect it but I thought of tonight. We might not be able to eat dinner. Mom, you could make us lunch and dinner with this money. Please." Rhian replied with a puppy eyes.

I sighed and took the money from them.

"Okay, but don't collect anything from strangers anymore. I don't want to lose you two."

"Can you still recognize that person?" I asked.

"Yes. He's handsome and well built momma! You will like him, isn't it?" Ryan giggled.

"No. Let's go home. Mommy is making a delicious dinner for you two." I beamed with a smile.

I was at least thankful for money. I will be able to cook for my children.

But who's this stranger?

Who's he? Kind of an angel or what?

I must find out who he is.
