Chapter 29 The Haven

NIKOLAI

I nod at the man and grip her wrist tighter, dragging her reluctant feet across the vibrating ground of the dimly lit corridor.

“If you had told me that this was where you were bringing me, I wouldn't have followed you,” she snaps, tearing into my flesh.

I stop walking and let her hand go. She staggers back and almost trips on her heels while backing away from me.

“Alright then, go back,” I mutter, nodding my head towards the elevator doors.

She slowly tilts her head in the direction of the waiting elevator and grips the hem of her dress.

I lean closer, and before she can move away from the wall, I trap her with my hands on the wall behind her. She stares at me with fear in her eyes. Her skin is as pale as that of a ghost, and her hands and feet can't stop shaking. I can tell that she is dying from the inside.

I lean towards her ears and bite her earlobe, earning a low shriek from her.
