Sorry for the delayed update. With Covid hitting our area, keeping up with taking temperatures, cleaning the home, and caring for loved ones, it has kept my priorities elsewhere. Hopefully, now that we are all doing better, I can update more regularly. Please forgive me. I hope everyone has stayed healthy and happy going into the new year. I look forward to any comments or suggestions you may have. Let me know in the reviews, and you can always say hello and share any future dreams you plan for yourself! Take care. XXo
Pru shook his head and looked away, “I’m just a messenger, Purity, so please don’t be upset with me. I don’t like the idea of it any more than you do and trust me, Lasci like’s it less than both of us combined. I’m just here to tell you that after looking up what you called speed dating, Lasci decided to do something similar.” Purity felt bad for snapping at Pru. Even though he was stern with his brothers, he was always gentle with her. His sweet preppy look helped too, she thought, looking at him before saying, “Okay, and?” Pru stood up and started pacing as he explained to her, “Starting tomorrow, you will be with Amorous. He decided youngest to oldest was the best way to go. If it’s Amorous you’re fated with, you will lessen the grief the rest of us will experience. At least partially. He’s closer to your age, so it’s more likely you could be his mate.” Purity let out a long breath, “I doubt that. The only thing I feel towards him is sisterly. He’s like that sweet game junky lit
Rushing outside, Pru and Johnathan suddenly stopped seeing Lasci on all fours, facing off with the stranger who had threatened them earlier. “I WILL KILL YOU!” Lasci roared before he launched himself at Bastian, the Vampire who had insisted that Purity was his lover. Lasci ended with a mouth full of air as Bastian disappeared and reappeared next to Johnathan, “Is he always this confrontational?” he asked Johnathan. “Generally, yes, but you really are asking for eternal sleep. So why are you back, Bastian?” Pru was about to call on his wolf to help Lasci, but there was something in Johnathan’s calm demeanor around the Vampire that made him hesitate. “Lasci, hold off for a second. You’re drunk and can barely jump straight. I’m interested in the blood sucker’s reason for showing back up,” Johnathan said, stepping between Lasci’s growling wolf and Pru’s confused look. “I don’t care what he has to say, I’m Alpha here, and that fucker is ready to die,” Lasci snapped before headin
Purity quickly shut the door and the lights off, feeling shocked. “Wolf, Demon, now a Vampire? Grandmother, what have you done? What have I gotten myself into?” Her words echoed in the room's darkness as she plopped on the bed and stared at the balcony doors. Unsure if she had heard the whole conversation, Purity knew the meaning of it. A lump in her throat started growing as thoughts of her life in the past couple of weeks played out. From the phone call about her grandmother dying in the hospital, the accident, and finding out she had been cared for by a pack of wolves and a demon, she didn’t think life could get more demanding. But now, a vampire? A knock at her bedroom door broke her from her thoughts, “Come, come in,” she said hesitantly, knowing there was no use pretending to be asleep. Purity watched as Johnathan’s face came around the door frame in the dark. She couldn’t make out his expression, but his voice sounded as if he was concerned. “Hello, love, not asleep
Having fallen into a deep sleep right after watching through heavy eyelids as Johnathan walked toward the door in her dark room, Purity dreamt. The dream was strange to her because she wasn’t safe in her bed but seated on a cold stone throne in what looked like a castle. She noticed the gold and blood-red carpet that led from her feet to the large iron door at the end of a long spacious room. Details depicting elegant flowers and naked bodies intertwined like ivy crawling across the floor had her staring at it before a voice broke through her concentration, “Beautiful, isn’t it?” She jumped and looked at the person who had just magically appeared, sitting on a throne next to the one where she sat. Then, as panic started to rise, she hesitated, suddenly recognizing the face looking at her. “It’s...you, the guy in the garden,” she pointed out softly, knowing she couldn’t forget his bright crimson hair and blue eyes. He nodded and smiled, “Yes, it’s me, but you never gave me a chanc
Lasci was sitting in bed when he heard Amorous call out to Purity from the other side of the door. The idea of his youngest brother going out on a date with her didn’t bother Lasci. Amorous wasn’t a threat. Instead, it was the vampire who showed up unannounced last night and his other brothers that made Lasci weary and aware of the possibility that Purity could belong to them. Those thoughts running through his mind faltered when he heard Purity’s voice through the wall call out, “No, I didn’t forget! Give me just a minute!” The walls weren’t thin, but his hearing was excellent, and it was no surprise when he heard fumbling and stuff being knocked around as she rushed. “Clumsy kitten,” Lasci whispered to himself as he got out of bed and stretched despite the headache from his hangover. He didn’t usually drink, but emotions got the best of him last night. Grabbing his phone, there was a text from the secretary at work saying both Libidi and Pru made it to work. That was one les
Purity pondered Amorous’s actions while he went into the men’s room to grab her damp paper towels for her hands before he went over to the ticket booth to see if they had a first aid kit. Sucking in her breath as she slowly dabbed away the blood from her palms, she looked up to see Amorous had disappeared. Trying to stand up to look for him, she faltered because of the pain in her knee. Purity was suddenly kept from falling by a firm but gentle grip on her arm. “Whoa, careful, you took quite the fall earlier, my love,” a smooth baritone voice said. Startled, knowing it wasn’t Amorous’s voice, Purity looked up and stared into deep, familiar blue eyes. “Hello again,” Bastian whispered, giving her a tender smile. Stuttering a response, “Uh, oh, hello,” Purity couldn’t believe it was the same man from her dream, “It’s really you? What are you doing here?” Bastian chuckled and let go of her arm, looking to where the ticket booths were and back at her, “I’m here for some human amuseme
They drove in silence for a while before Johnathan parked on the street in front of Speed of Night Gamer Café. “Enjoy the rest of your date. I will return to get you both in a few hours,” the demon butler said while questioning Lasci with a look over his shoulder. “Thanks for the ride again,” Amorous said, following Purity onto the sidewalk. He was about to shut the van door, but Lasci’s hand suddenly grabbed around the edge of it, “Hold on, I’m getting out,” he said in a deep annoyed voice. Johnathan snickered, “I take it we aren’t heading to the office then?” Slamming the door shut, Lasci snapped, “Bingo,” and turned to face both Purity and Amorous, “I think I’d rather play a game or two.” Johnathan chuckled, “Oh boy,” before driving off in the van just as Purity was about to call after him. Turning back to Lasci, she scowled, “You’re doing this on purpose,” and then snapped, “We are on a date, and you are acting like a fifth wheel!” Lasci grinned before laughing in response,
Looking at Purity while calling Pru, Lasci knew he had to be careful what he said. He had yet to talk to her about the situation with the vampire. She didn’t know that Bastian would be a temporary guest at The House of Stray for a little while. “Hey, you called?” Pru responded to Lasci, “Yes,” before explaining the forwarded email regarding the shaman's confession to him, “It’s legit. The vampire wasn’t lying, but rather quite truthful.” Pru went on to say he had the video and audio analyzed, and there was no coercion with the man's words. “Shit, so there’s no way around it,” Lasci told Pru. “Sorry, brother, I’m as uneasy about this as you. We can’t take a chance that what the older man said isn’t true, so Bastian will be moving in tonight. I have already contacted him, and he seemed expectant, like he knew I would call. I don’t trust him, Lasci, but we don’t have a choice.” Lasci swore and glanced over at Purity. She had at least let go of the seat belt and sat now staring out
