Lindsay, Max, and Cat had arrived at her house just before 1 p.m. They brought Cat’s computer and other equipment inside and placed everything on the kitchen table. They were utterly exhausted, but they still had work to do.     Sheriff Lindsay Gold sat down at her desk and looked at the stack of files that had been left for her. Each one of them contained a report about the weirdness taking place in the county. She had thought that it was all due to the incident on the base, but now she knew it was far more than that.
