6. SHE IS GONE

“Don’t worry, I will take care of you. I will take care of you for the rest of your life. You don’t need to be afraid.” Leon looked at Nessa with sadness in his eyes, but this sight infuriated Nessa even more.

Nessa saw red. Her anger fueled her with enough strength to push him away and scream in his face.

“Get out! GET OUT! LEAVE ME ALONE!”

Leon watched how Nessa’s world was crumbling, and he only stood there. He did nothing, and finally, after he realized there was no way he could talk to her, he left the room.

“We will talk again once you calm down. We will discuss this later, okay?” His words were as soft as ever.

Nessa didn’t even want to see his face, let alone talk to him again. Within a few days, the man that she thought would love and protect her had turned into someone who hurt her the most. 

It was not what Nessa imagined when she found him. A mate should be the comfort for each other, not the source of all the pain.

Later that night, when Nessa had done crying her heart out, she decided that she couldn’t stay in this pack and torture herself more than this.

She didn’t have much in her possession, but she had enough to get her out of this pack and provide for herself for a few weeks.

With that thought, Nessa put all of her important things into a small bag and went out of the room. It was very quiet.

The mind-link didn’t work anymore because she had lost her wolf. Not only that, but also the bond with this pack was no longer there. This made it easier for her to leave everything behind.

Still, there was this huge hollow inside her where her wolf spirit should be.

She didn’t know where to go, but any place would be better than being trapped in this pack, surrounded by people who wanted to hurt her.

Nessa took a deep breath and started to walk through the pack’s territory. She knew the less heavily guarded area, so she could sneak out without anyone knowing it.

Meanwhile, Leon, who was unaware that his mate had left, was currently in another argument with Abby.

“Nessa doesn’t have this small tattoo on her shoulder.” Leon growled at Abby, and the latter looked startled.

Leon pointed to the picture that Abby had shown him two days earlier, asserting that Nessa had been involved with multiple men while he was away.

In his rage and poor judgment, he wanted to get back at Nessa for doing that to him, instead of confronting her directly, as he didn’t know how to bring up this topic.

In the heat of the moment, Leon used Abby to vent out his rage.

However, after what happened and when he saw the pain and disgust in Nessa’s eyes, Leon second-guessed it.

In the end, here he was, realizing what kind of grave mistake he had committed.

“Tell me, where did you get the picture?!” Leon raised his voice, and this made Abby cry. “Stop crying! How dare you fool me!?”

“Leon! You can’t raise your voice to a woman! I don’t raise you to be like that!” Kylie reprimanded her son.

“Shut up! Tell me the truth!” Leon hollered angrily.

Because of this picture, he had hurt his mate and even done her more harm by letting his mother and Abby abuse Nessa and cause irreparable damage.

This was the reason why he had been snarky with Nessa and refused to acknowledge his mistake. In his mind, he only got back what she had done to him.

“ANSWER ME!” Leon hollered.

In the picture, there was a woman who looked like Nessa, accompanied by another man—multiple men, to make things worse.

Because Leon had just met her again for a few days, he didn’t know how to talk with her and bottled up everything. He didn’t confront her at all; instead, he resorted to getting revenge on her, which made him feel very guilty.

Now, when the truth was in the open, he couldn’t see Abby and his mother in the same light.

“So, the two of you have been planning this?” Leon asked; he was livid. The realization dawned on him.

Kylie and Abby had never seen him this furious.

“This is for the best, Son,” Kylie finally said, but she immediately shut her mouth when she saw how Leon crushed Abby’s phone in his tight grip. Kylie was startled as she saw blood ooze out from his wound. “You are bleeding!” Kylie gasped and rushed to Leon’s side.

However, Leon was too mad to be close to her. He didn’t even want to see their faces. How could they scheme against his mate behind his back? And worst of all, he fell for it.

He was played in their hands. He even agreed to announce Abby as his mate instead of Nessa, which resulted in an uproar while his true mate was unconscious and in so much pain.

“Stay away from me!” Leon growled loudly, which made Abby and Kylie flinch. The two women then teared up. “I don’t appreciate what you have done.” He ground his molars.

Heaven! What have I done to Nessa!?

Leon couldn’t think of anything else and immediately rushed to find her. He would grovel at her feet if he had to!

How could he allow himself to be deceived in such a nasty way and even dive headfirst into it!?

He couldn’t imagine the pain he had caused Nessa for his action. He remembered the pain in her beautiful green eyes when she found out about his disloyalty.

And what made things even worse was the fact they had killed her wolf.

He was such a moron, the stupidest one!

“Nessa!” Leon went to their bedroom, but he couldn’t find her. “Nessa!? Nessa!” He looked for her frantically.

But she had already gone.
