8 Seconds - The Cowgirl and the Doctor

“Hey girl, you look stressed”.

“ I'm OK Chloe, I just had a lot to do. But I'm done signing all the documents, I know Kendrick can handle the rest”.

I said as I rested my back on the couch.

“I can't believe I can finally rest, Ken promised to handle everything. I just have to hand over the ownership of the company to him. We are getting married soon anyway, I can't run the home and still order my husband around at work right”?

Chloe gave me a reassuring smile, she has been my best friend since forever.

“Okay, enough with the work. Have a cup of tea with me, will you”?

She placed a cup of hot coffee in my hands and I gave her a grateful smile.

“Myra guess who just arrived”?

Chloe gave me a beautiful smile as she looked down the window, I rushed over and sure enough, the love of my life step down from his black Audi car.

“Babe”.

He called out as he stepped into the office, he walk up to me and gave me a kiss on the head.

With a smile on my face, I finally took a mouthful of my coffee.

I looked as he said hello to Chloe, but what he did next shocked me to the bones. He kissed Chloe on the f*cking lips right in front of me.

“What the hell are you doing kissing my best friend”?

I wondered if my eye were playing tricks on me.

“ Shut up”.

I couldn't believe my ears, did Kendrick just asked me to shut up?

I tried to lift my hand but strangely, my hand hung in the air, a light chuckle left Chloe's lips and she helped me bring down my hand.

“Yeah, that's right, we just poisoned you”.

My eyes widened with shock, I tried opening my mouth to scream or to chant a spell but no words could escape my lips.

“Ah, don't bother trying , you can't talk either”.

She laughed as she stood up from the couch, I could only move my eyeballs, every other part of my body was completely paralyzed.

At first, It felt like a million tiny needles were piercing my chest. My inside began to burn, I felt my inside boiling but I couldn't even scream or ask for help... I was dying.

Chloe couldn't contain how happy and proud she was.

“I got the most gruesome poison you can ever imagine, I wanted to give you the most painful death. I know that if I got anything less, with your powers you could turn the tables on me and I wasn't willing to take any chances”.

Chloe held Kendrick tightly and laughed hysterically, Chloe then walked over to the door, to make sure it was locked.

Walking back to me she said,

“I don't have much time, my dear best friend, in less than five minutes, you would be dead, and there are so many things I want you to hear”.

She smiled.

“You always thought you were prettier and intelligent than I am. But guess what that means nothing now.

Kendrick owns all you've worked so hard for, and he is my mate and the next alpha of our prestigious pack. The fact that you are the most powerful young witch doesn't mean a thing now does it? I am better than you in every way. I am the daughter of the alpha and a power werewolf, I may not be as powerful and as skilled as you are, but I'm smarter”.

She said clinging to Kendrick's arm, he gave me an indifferent look, while she deeply kissed him. I looked at the both of them, my heart broke, as the two people who meant the world to me turned to be my murderers.

I vowed to take my revenge if i ever had the chance. And shortly after, I finally felt my heart beat stop.

Pah!

A forceful slap landed on my face and I found myself falling hard on the tiled floor.

“ Up”.

I heard as my cheek burn, hurting from the pain, my entire body ached as I could barely open my eyes. There was the metallic taste of blood in my mouth, all this made me frown.

I had never liked the smell of blood, especially my own blood!

I spat out the blood in my mouth as I tried to open my eyes. I wanted to see who would dare to bully me. After a few attempt I was finally able to looked up.

Two people were staring at me. The man had a cold look on his face while the woman, looked exquisite, elegant and innocent.

I still couldn't figure out the situation i was in.

'I should be dead right'?

Because I could still remember being in so much pain, and I definitely was at the point of death. I looked up confused, as I recognize the faces before me.

The man was the chairman of GO enterprise, a fast growing company, 'but why am I here'?

“You will do as say Kyra, Is that clear”?

The man said fuming.

'Kyra? Who is Kyra'?

I thought to myself as I kept looking at the man shooting daggers with his eyes.

“There is nothing you can do to change it, this is for the good of the pack. You are my eldest daughter and this is your responsibility”.

'What pack? What is really going on here, and who is this Kyra he keeps talking about'?

Still completely dumbfounded, I raised one of my hand and in the next second, everything stood still.

“Good, my powers still works”.

Walking over to the side mirror by the wardrobe, I couldn't believe my eyes.

'who is this young girl that keeps staring back at me'?

Instantly memories began to flood my head, making me hold it as I groaned in pain.

The girl staring at me in the mirror was the eldest miss of this family. She lost her mother who was a powerful werewolf to an unknown illness. Her father, James Monroe is the Alpha of the golden gate pack, a great leader but ended up neglecting his first daughter, because he believed his second wife, who was also his late wife's sister would take good care of his daughter.

To the world and even the naive girl, her stepmother had always loved her, because she always allowed her to do what ever it was she wanted. Which made her seem arrogant and dumb.

Unknown to the world, her stepmother has been gradually poisoning her since she was little which made her have a very weak body and couldn't change to her wolf form.

Due to how weak her body had become over the years, she finally couldn't hold on anymore.

After been locked up for two days without food or water, because she was against the arranged marriage between the golden gate pack and the royals of the werewolf community.

She finally took her last breath.
