"Why aren’t you moving? Are you waiting for Christmas to arrive?"
If Zannie hadn't spoken, Howard probably wouldn't have gone back in time. He could not believe that this woman could drive. She unintentionally impressed him.
On the other hand, he couldn't help but worry. He strongly believes that a man can do better than a woman. It’s not cool for a woman doing men’s work. And he was still very worried that he might be ruined again when he was with her. Maybe Zannie's anger at him hasn't subsided yet.
"Aren't you going to drive?" Howard asked Jacob.
"I can't go back to the barracks so only you and Zannie will ride in that armored car."
"Really? Is she a professional driver?" Howard still couldn't believe that she really can drive.
He managed a sly smile on his face. Zannie seemed insulted by his smile. Howard's eyes followed Jacob away before he got into the car. He positioned himself in the front seat which caused Zannie to raise an eyebrow.
"Sit in the back," her authoritative command.
Howard nodded. That clatter was mixed with annoyance. "Why? Are you allergic to people?" he joked. He doesn't tend to joke but his father used to tell him that when the situation is annoying, learn to manage it with a positive vibe. Unbeknownst to him, when he was CEO, he never applied his father's advice.
He glanced at the back of the armored car. He smiled because the rear of the vehicle was occupied by various relief goods and army equipment. But for some deadly weapons like a gun, he can't see where they were exactly placed. For safety, maybe that's why it can't be exposed lightly.
"You peeked before you told me to move to the back," he said. Zannie just turned around and started operating the car.
Zannie tries to focus on driving. Please, the space inside the car is shrinking because he is with Howard. She’s not comfortable with a guy she just met recently, not because he’s unreliable. As soon as she felt that, she suddenly became conscious and seemed to be whispering to herself to always be careful in her actions when she was with this man. Maybe Jacob would feel upset once he messed with Howard again.
Zannie had been driving for a few minutes, she was just careful speeding on the road. She runs slowly and notices that his companion is bored.
‘That's why I'm so conscious. Focus on driving, Zannie. Don't let his presence affect you.’
"It's like I'm riding in an interment car."
Howard's weak language could not pass her hearing. Her cheeks warmed at what he said. It seems that the young man is still very angry with her but she can't blame him.
She pretended to hear nothing. She barely caught a glimpse of Howard's appearance. He always thought that only Jacob is the only handsome in her eyes but why did God bother to send a more handsome creature next to her?
'He's so ugly.'
She countered the threatening admiration that she should have given only to Jacob.
"Aren't you going to speed up yet?" Howard asked as he raised the volume of his voice. He noticed Zannie's smirk. She still doesn't say a word, she just seems to be holding back her anger. But she couldn't understand herself sometimes.
It was fun to watch the frown on Zannie's face. Suddenly he forgot his guilt.
"You want to go fast? I should have let you ride in an ambulance in the hospital!" Zannie sighed as she accelerated the vehicle. She didn't care if the arrogant man got angry.
"Hey hey! You're really not kidding?"
Howard was confused because the car suddenly accelerated. He looked to the side of their path to the barracks. He screamed until his voice cracked, after all, steep cliffs were the side of the road they were walking on.
"You're not sorry, are you going to do this? Please, slow down!" Howard added. But Zannie seemed deaf because she was still accelerating the car, faster.
“You requested it, then I’m going to give it!” Zannie answered without even looking at Howard.

Howard’s soul seemed to fly after the trip back to the barracks where he was staying. It's like riding the scary rides of an amusement park because of Zannie's driving skills. This is only his first time meeting a woman like her. Mixed emotions again, annoyance and admiration. Zannie's attitude of not knowing how to apologize was annoying to him. But it was funny because he had the courage to do the thing he never thought a weak -looking woman could do. He must have made a wrong impression on the girl.
‘I can't beat this woman. But she messed with the wrong man. She was wrong when she opposed me.’
He followed Zannie's gaze as he got out of the car. She was silent on the dropping of relief goods, not even asking for help from other people in the barracks who seemed to be counting poles. He knew it would be heavy but he pretended not to care. Zannie hates him, so he feels the same way about it. That would be their way of reciprocating things towards each other.
He averted the sight to the view from outside the vehicle. The area does not seem to have been affected by the war. The rooms are well made even if they are simple. He was suddenly curious, he wanted to know where in Trias the battlefield was set up. On the other hand, he temporarily lost the annoyance he felt at sending his father to the place where he is now.
Now, he thinks this experience is a challenge and interesting on the other side. But he thinks the bigger challenge is none other than Zannie.
Several minutes later, another lady appeared and approached Zannie.
“Hey Zannie, are the goods okay to distribute?” the unknown lady asked. Zannie nodded. “I can handle all of this, don’t worry.”
“Just tell me if you need help. But I think the guy beside you can help you. He looked strong at first glance.”
“I don’t think so,” Zannie grumbled and annoyingly glanced at Howard.
Hi guys! Thank you for supporting! Love you all.
"The temporary class is scheduled for the next day. I have to be early."Zannie was still relaxed and looked around her room. She was loaded with tasks, her eyes suddenly fixed on a brown envelope that Jacob had given her."Of course. It's another one."She looked at the paper contained in the envelope.'Evaluation sheet of Mr. Howard Fontabella, CEO of SLI.'She raised an eyebrow at the read header of the evaluation sheet. "He's not lying. In fairness."She read other written guidelines for evaluation. There are some things that Howard should be asked to do when his attitude is tested in another field as an ordinary em
Zannie is holding some textbooks that she will use to teach children affected by the war in Trias. He took a deep breath then turned to Ms. Aida, a teacher who assists in her teaching. He could not have been assigned to do this but there is a real shortage of teachers in the area because most have left Trias to avoid the war, while others have been assisted in other relief operations in other evacuation centers. The class will be held in the small space behind the covered court that served as an evacuation center. "It looks like a classroom somehow, doesn't it?" Zannie asked Ms. Aida. She just smiled at her because the visual aids she was watching to teach a history subject grabbed her attention. "Thank you Ms. Zannie, it's great that you made your visual aids. It's like the work of a legitimate teacher. The setup looks like a cl
"Did you grasp the lesson?"When Howard asked the question, all of the kids nodded. He explained the lesson to the children for more than thirty minutes. It was even more enjoyable than presenting business projects and proposals when he was still employed. He seemed to enjoy what he was doing."I hope you'll be our teacher forever."When the boy in the background said something, his ears clapped. He smiled because he had never heard a compliment like this before when presenting in front of big bosses in various companies. He's finally demonstrated that a compliment from a child is more genuine. When they praise someone, they are not lying, and they are more grateful."Sure," he replied. He saw Zannie frowning so he approached her."What can you say about my teaching skills?" he whispered. Zannie just averted her eyes and left again. Howard suddenly fell silent. At this time, why is Zannie acting like that?"My advice is, you have to be good at speaking so that your crush Jacob will no
Zannie walked slowly into the living room. Howard offered her a piggyback ride because she could no longer when she stumbled because of her shoelace earlier. But on the other hand, she is still annoyed with Howard for saying that she's not pretty enough to show a stern attitude, and even said that she won't ruin the reputation that is best kept just for him. That had an impact and it was like a broken plaque repeated in her mind. The wind blew her away and she looked in the mirror. She slapped both cheeks for thinking such things. She couldn’t fathom the impact of Howard's presence and his sudden mood change. It turns out that the scent of him also lingered on her clothes because he had been on a piggyback ride before. ‘This is strange for me. Why am I feeling something that makes me thrilled?’Why so? Does she feel the thrill that she should just have only for Jacob? That thought made her lose concentration. Damn, that man is invading her whole system. Until now, she admitted she qu
Zannie and her fellow volunteers overcame the busyness of the soldiers in the training camp. Her eyes immediately searched for Jacob and her superior to turnover first aid kits and food supplies that the soldiers would need at any time. There is no alarming scenario yet. She also prayed that the opponents would not threaten again and destroy the town."Is there no one to assist us here? Where is the head of operations?"Zannie's thoughts vanished like a bubble because of Howard's question. She noticed that everything seems new to Howard based on his gaze while wandering around. Zannie can't get if Howard is just clueless or acting ignorant."You didn't see anyone to meet us, so obviously, there's nothing." Here she is with her demeanor. It looks like the petty quarrel is starting again. He couldn't say Zannie could be allergic to handsome guys because when it comes to Jacob, she looks like a gentle kitten and she only gives that man her smile, but when it comes to him, Zannie's mood q
"Come on guys! Let's have dinner together. It's such a tiring day. Let's call it a wrap."Quickly, Howard approached Lucille's place to have dinner. Earlier his stomach was churning due to hunger. Normally, he can't allow himself to feel hungry even if he's working in his office. The few boxes of rice he carried to the soldiers' camp were really exhausting to him. Honestly, he was pressured as Zannie was consistently nagging him. Clueless, he glanced at the girl and guided himself closer to her."Do you have a problem?" he asked in a whisper."Courage, you'll just eat and you won't even help even if I told you to." Annoyance registers on her beautiful face. Howard also heard a hissing sound from her.Their eyes met once again. She dared not to look at Howard's attractive eyes but it seemed like someone on her inner side was begging her to look at Howard for a long time—even about five more seconds. All she knew was that she had been grabbing rice from the big pot before as she was bu
It seems that Zannie will not be put to sleep by the loud giggles of her peers because of their conversation outside the barracks. She knew right away that the female volunteers were just happy because Howard was there. She covered her ears with a pillow but the voices of the people outside could still be heard.“They're so shallow for relying their mood on a handsome man that they're talking to,” she bemoaned and switched her position while still laying down on the bed.A few minutes later, she overheard another word from her colleague outside. “We really can't imagine a handsome man like you, going to this place and volunteering. Tell me more about you.”She hissed upon hearing that.Alodia said that to Howad, one of the younger volunteers who always had a crush on handsome rescuers and soldiers in Trias. Then, she seemed to have an urge to listen to their conversation. After all, she couldn't sleep because of their noises. She guided herself to the wall to better hear the conversa
“Are you sure that you're going to wait over there until the rain stops? You might catch a cold,” Lucille said, loud enough for Howard to hear on the other side of the place.“Yes, I'm sure,” Howard responded.“Okay, after this, we're heading to our corresponding barracks. How about you? Do you have a place to sleep?” Joel asked.Howard responded with a quick nod. Three minutes had passed, and the rain had already stopped. Howard decided to go to Zannie's barracks as he was fully aware that she was not asleep.“Hey, it's me,” Howard softly said while he was standing in the front door area.Zannie scratched her head as she heard that annoying voice. She had nothing to do but stand up and open the mini door for him.Her tone was full of annoyance. "Why are you here? Why can't you just stay with other acquaintances?"“Well, I saw you peeking through your window earlier. I know you weren't asleep yet. And I know that you are going to welcome me here,” Howard confidently replied, but he lo
