Chapter Nine

"Lesley!." My mom's voice suddenly said, jolting me awake. I almost jumped off my bed from the suddenness of it all. My heart was pounding so hard in my chest. I looked around trying to figure out where I was. I was disoriented. Slowly I began to regain complete consciousness.

"Mom, what's wrong?." I said, my voice still hoarse from sleep.

I was in my room, I glanced at the window to see if it was morning yet but saw it was still dark outside.

"What time is it, mom?." I asked.

"It's past ten." She said. "When did you leave the party? Your father and I looked everywhere for you. We called your number but you never answered our calls."

I ran a hand through my hair and rubbed down my face. "I forgot my phone at the hotel." A yawn escaped my lips.
