I strode into my chambers and went straight to the bedroom to check up on Aria.

But I found the bed empty.

“Where could she be?” I muttered to myself scanning the room.

I had just stepped out to instruct the guards on their tasks.

I stopped just as I was about to call out her name.

I didn't want her misunderstanding my actions again. Like she did earlier.

“Did she really misunderstand?” a rumble echoed in my head.

My teeth clenched at the question.

“Yes. I was only doing my Alpha duties,” I mumbled to myself.

“I was only being a good leader and since she's my legal wife, what would people say if I stood and watched her struggle in pain?”

But I thought I sounded a bit ridiculous and quickly forced my head to stop thinking.

As I stood, torn, in front of the bathroom, I contemplated calling out to Aria—in case she was in the washroom. Or waiting for her to come out.

But thankfully her personal maid walked in.
