Chapter 7: Edited version

Chapter 7

After reading the book.

Adriana felt a surge of emotions , not only because of the sad ending of the novel but because she suddenly realized that the story was almost similar to hers. Though there are a lot of differences, especially because her father abandoned her and her mom, but still Adriana could remember vividly, how loving and caring her father was to her and her mom then.

' Perhaps there's a reason he left us? ' She thought.

She had come to realize that everything happens for a reason and that we shouldn't be jumping into conclusion without knowing the reason behind something.

She once heard of a story of two best friends, who broke up because one thought her best friend was betraying her by dating her boyfriend. She had that suspicion as she had seen intimate pictures of the both of them.

Unknown to her, The only reason why her best friend was seen with her boyfriend was because the latter was trying to plead with him not to break her best friend's heart, as she was aware of how madly in love her best friend was with him.

She succeeded in doing just that but oh well... A third party who had a grudge on both friends took the picture of her shaking him and smiling at him and as expected, she posted it on the net and everyone including the girl's bestie misunderstood it all.

So from then on, she learnt that we shouldn't always judge by what we see because not all of it is true after all, it might just be fabricated.

She closed the book and kept it carefully in her school bag and stood up and headed to the restroom as she felt pressed all of a sudden.

She wasn't a fan of making use of public toilets as she calls it, but well it seems like she consumed too much milk last night, so she had to bear the consequences now.

She entered the female's rest room and as soon as she did, she started hearing two girls gossiping in a hushed tone.

Curious, she paused for a moment and listened.

" I feel so elated to hear that Angela was betrayed by her best friend, they have been such a show off, it's like they are the only ones in the world. It feels very good to realize that they have been broken apart at least I have one less problem. "

"Really? How sure are you that they've broken up? What if they get back together? "

" That's impossible! Didn't you see how aggressive they were towards one another earlier? "

" We'll see. "

" Hm, I am still surprised to realize that Angela isn't as innocent as we think she is, I only thought that she was just a bully but who knew that she has skeletons in her closet. "

" Well, who doesn't have skeletons in their closet, I have mine and you do too. It just depends on the quantity and how scary the skeletons are. " The other thoughtfully replied.

" I don't have skeletons in my closet! " She denied.

" Really? Anyways it's almost time for the morning assembly, let's head downstairs. "

" Harrumph! "

When they left, Adriana finally did her business in peace and soon came out of the room.

While she was washing her hands in the wash hand basin, A red haired girl approached her and tried to initiate a conversation with her.

" Have you heard about what happened to Angela, the bully? "

" Yes, So? " Adriana inquired in a bored tone.

" You have! I must say I was really shocked by the news as I always thought that Angela was an innocent girl who just loved to bully others but who knew, I suddenly just realized that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover. "

' Didn't you know that before? '

" En, if you would, Please excuse me as I need to head downstairs soon as it's almost time for the morning assembly. "

" Oh... "

The morning assembly lasted for Twenty minutes as usual .

Soon it was time for the morning class.

In Adriana's class they had Economics that morning, their teacher was an averagely tall Italian woman, with blond white hair.

She was named Dorcas Wilson.

She happens to be one of Adriana's best teachers as she was very hard-working and efficient.

" Good morning, students. " Her ever so cheerful voice rang in their classroom as soon as she walked in.

" Good morning, Miss Wilson. " They replied to her greeting in unison.

" Hm, I trust that you had a good night's rest and are ready for this morning's lesson. "

" Yes, Ma. "

" Okay, Before I begin with the lesson, I want to inform you guys that due to personal reasons, Mr Addison the Economics teacher for the science students couldn't make it to school today and as a result, the school has decided that they'll Join you today for the lesson, I hope that you guys won't mind and yes we are very sorry for the inconvenience that this might cost you guys. "

" It's alright, Ma. "

Mrs Wilson let out a smile in appreciation as she walked out of the class for a moment and minutes later the science students walked into the class in a single file.

They were very disciplined and well behaved as they walked into the class in an orderly manner.

What Adriana noticed about this group of students is their stoic face , they weren't smiling at all, they were too serious as if they were on a dangerous mission.

Adriana's POV.

Perhaps it's due to Phy Chem Bio, because well I heard that those three subjects were kind of tough, especially Physics and Chemistry so it needed a lot of thinking and concentration.

I even heard that some science students usually spend hours solving physics Questions.

' That should explain their behavior. ' I thought.

I busied myself with revising the last topic we did in Economics which was ' Brain Drain '

From the sound of it, you could think that the topic is all about how the brain of a person can be drained of essential stuff like blood and some soft tissues.

At least, that's what I thought at first but it isn't.

It isn't even related to that at all.

The topic simply talks about how efficient and hard-working workers migrate from one country to another, in search of greener pastures and this results in the under development of the country where this happens.

That was unexpected right? Thought so too.

[ This is my own definition of Brain Drain, so.... ]

The sudden chattering of the girls who were at my back interrupted me from my revisions.

" Hey, isn't that Simeon Dalton? "

" It's him. "

" Come and sit with us, Simeon! "

Confused, I looked up and immediately I did, my eyes were locked with his, I was suddenly spellbound to those ocean eyes of his, it felt like he was staring into my soul.

I was quick to get out of my reverie though I couldn't do that until minutes later.

Then it dawned on me that the guy Simeon as they called him was the same guy that saved me from a great fall yesterday.

' So he's a science student. ' I thought, bemused.

" Hi, can I sit with you here? " I heard a music-like voice next to me, and then I realized that Simeon was already at my Table.

I didn't even realize when he got there.

" Yes, you can. " I recovered quickly.

" Thanks. " He replied as he took a seat, then he fetched his notes from his black School bag efficiently.

All this while I was staring at him but I soon retracted my gaze as soon as he raised his head.

The lesson went on smoothly without any hurdles, which I was very thankful for.

But wait, I think it's too early to be relieved.
