When she woke up, the only thing she could smell was alcohol. The nurse came over to adjust the saline drip.

"What happened to me?" She rubbed her temples and accidentally touched the cannula in her hand. The pain shocked her, and she regained her clarity.

"Ma'am, you are malnourished and anemic!" the nurse scolded. "Do you often stay up late and drink heavily? You’d better quit those bad habits! Your health is the most important thing in the world!"

Malnourished?

She listened to the nurse’s advice intermittently. She wasn't too worried about being malnourished. When she left Lime City, she hadn't brought anything with her.

During these past few years, she had very few assets.

Chester provided her with food and clothing, but no money. She had finally earned some money, but her bank account was frozen when she left Lime City.

Chester was trying to back her into a corner.

She had been able to survive in Sire City until today because she had worked hard day and night. When she thought of this, she suddenly remembered that she still had to go to work today!

"What time is it?"

Her phone was beside her. She grabbed it and saw that it was already ten-thirty in the morning.

Shoot! She was late!

"I’m already better! I’m checking out!" she said as she pulled out her drip, ignoring the nurse's warning.

The nurse couldn't stop her and allowed her to leave. When she reached the door, she remembered she had no extra money to pay the hospital bills.

"Your hospital bill has been paid!" The nurse seemed to know exactly what she was thinking.

Elizabeth didn't hesitate any longer and ran out of the hospital room.

When she finally arrived at her company, it was already eleven-thirty. She had gone home to change and wash up, but she couldn't hide her exhaustion. Lenny was coming out of the boss’s office when she ran into Elizabeth.

"Ms. Sands, about yesterday..." She hadn't finished her sentence before Lenny interrupted her.

"Elizabeth, come with me!" Lenny said, grabbing Elizabeth’s hand and leading her into her office.

"Elizabeth, I was too anxious to make our plans work yesterday. That’s why I made that mistake. I hope you can forgive me!" Lenny said shamefacedly after she closed the office door.

Elizabeth was a bit confused. Although she hated Lenny for what she did yesterday, she couldn't let her true emotions lash out right now. Besides, she had injured Mr. Lenzo last night. Mr. Lenzo was a very important client.

"Ms. Sands, I infuriated Mr. Lenzo last night!"

"Our boss doesn't like that Ken Lenzo anyway! Our boss has already scolded me for what happened yesterday," Lenny said as tears filled her eyes. "Elizabeth, can you forgive me? I had too much to drink yesterday and wasn't thinking clearly. Please, don't blame me!"

Elizabeth looked at the weeping Lenny and felt bewildered. She thought she had lost her job. Does this mean she still has a chance here?

"But I hurt Mr. Lenzo yesterday!"

"We already know what happened last night. The hotel manager wanted to call the police, but Ken decided to deal with it privately. Not only will he not take revenge on you, but he’s also going to compensate you," Lenny said while grabbing her hand. "Very soon, you’ll have a sum of money deposited into your account!"

No revenge, and he was going to compensate her?

"Ms. Sands, are you joking with me?" Elizabeth looked at her in shock. Lenny laughed and looked at Elizabeth with sincerity. "Of course not!"

Elizabeth was still doubtful. Then, there was a notification on her phone, and she looked at it. A new deposit of two thousand dollars had been made to her account.

So, was Lenny telling the truth?

"Then I’ll get back to work now." Elizabeth couldn't hide her joy and prepared to return to her desk to work. But Lenny called her back.

"Elizabeth!"

Elizabeth turned and looked at her again.

"Chester Yale of Galaxy Corporation... do you know him?"

Elizabeth paused for a moment. Chester’s name hit a bitter spot in her. She said nothing for a few seconds. Then, she quickly shook her head.

"I heard he helped you last night?" Lenny said as she walked in front of her. "Otherwise, with Ken’s status and power in Sire City, I doubt the incident would have been resolved so easily!"

Elizabeth looked at Lenny. So Lenny was telling the truth now? Instead of believing that Chester helped her, she would rather think she just got lucky.

"I don't know Chester." Elizabeth shook her head again. She wanted to cut all ties with him.

Lenny didn't press further. If she really didn't know him, why would someone like him help her?

"Right, our boss is going on a business trip tomorrow. I was supposed to go with him, but you know I haven't been feeling well these last two days. So, I recommended that you go instead," Lenny said while smoothing her long hair.

Elizabeth was stunned. How was she supposed to know Lenny wasn't feeling well? Besides, why was she accompanying her boss on a business trip? She was just a rookie who had joined the company a few days ago!

"Ms. Sands, but I don't know the boss very well yet!"

Elizabeth said worriedly. After all, her boss was an old man over fifty. A young woman like her accompanying him probably wasn't a good idea!

"Don't worry. Five people from the company are going. Including you, there will be four women!" Lenny said while laughing. "The boss’s daughter is going, too!"

Elizabeth felt reassured after hearing that. Since the trip was tomorrow, Lenny allowed her to take the rest of the day off to prepare. But Elizabeth didn't need to prepare much. Everything she owned could fit into a small box, let alone a large suitcase.

When she returned home in the afternoon, her landlord reminded her to prepare to pay next month's rent. It wasn't much, just five hundred. Seeing the two thousand dollars in her account, she suddenly felt like a minor tycoon. But looking at the old walls and the faulty electrical circuit, she couldn't help but want to move.

Just a little more money and she would make sure to leave Sire City!

At Galaxy Corporation in Lime City.

Chester sat at his office desk feeling dismal. Since Rachel passed away about a month ago, he had never regained his good mood.

"Mr. Yale, Ms. Adams is here!" Leigh had knocked for a while, but there was no response from Chester, so he just pushed the door open and entered.

Chester raised his head and looked at him without responding. But Cassy Adams had already walked through the door.

"Mr. Yale!"

Chester raised his head and scanned her from head to toe. He didn't get angry. Leigh left the room stealthily.

"Yes?" Chester asked in a deep voice.

"Are you attending the auction tomorrow?" Cassy looked at him with pleading eyes. "That piece of porcelain... Rachel always liked it."

Cassy’s older cousin was Rachel. Upon hearing Cassy mention Rachel, Chester’s eyes lit up slightly.

"I want to see that piece of porcelain for Rachel’s sake!" Cassy said, choking up.

Chester clenched his fists. If it weren't for that woman, that piece of porcelain was going to be his birthday gift for Rachel this year!

"Tomorrow night, I’ll have Leigh come pick you up," Chester said coldly.

The following night at eight o’clock. On the first floor inside the Central Exhibition Hall.

Those who were able to attend this auction were all famous figures from nearby cities. This kind of event also saw many handsome men and beautiful women in attendance. Cassy, who came dressed extravagantly, was undoubtedly one of the sharpest. She wore a long peach-colored dress that made her skin look brighter.

Cassy was a TV host in Sire City with some fame. So wherever she went, she attracted a lot of attention.

"Isn't that Chester Yale from Galaxy Corporation?"

"Both the guy and the girl look incredible!"

People always focus on young, good-looking people like Chester and Cassy. Chester completely ignored those comments and headed straight for his seat.

"Mr. Yale, is that the porcelain piece we were talking about?”

Cassy, who had initially been walking behind him, suddenly grabbed Chester’s arm and pointed toward an exhibit not far from them.

Chester looked in the direction she was pointing. But what caught his eye wasn't the exhibit; it was the woman standing beside it, looking around.

Why was she here?

Chester was in no state of mind to listen to Elizabeth’s pleas. His slightly trembling hand continued to grip her neck. His fingers were practically about to touch."You can't do this to me!" "You aren't going to make me go alone, are you?" Lenny asked in an annoyed tone.Elizabeth shook her head and followed. Lenny stopped when they reached the fourth floor, in front of Room 403."Elizabeth, your dress is truly beautiful today," Lenny said with a smile. "White suits you very well! If I were a man, I’d fall in love with you!""Thank you!" Elizabeth replied quickly. She had bought the dress in a hurry; it had cost her a couple hundred dollars.Lenny grabbed Elizabeth’s hand."Mr. Lenzo is a very important client for us, so you must perform well tonight. This is a great opportunity!" Lenny said as she pushed Elizabeth toward the door. "Don't disappoint me.""What? What do you mean?" Elizabeth was confused."I forgot to tell you," Lenny whispered, leaning close to Elizabeth’s ear, "Mr. Lenzo wanted to see you, not me!”"What did you say?" Elizabeth’s entire body tensed up. "Mrs. Yale is—"Before finishing his sentence, Leigh realized he had misspoken and immediately corrected himself: "Ms. Renshaw is having another tantrum!"Chester clenched his fists and stormed up the building.Inside the room, Elizabeth Renshaw leaned against the windowpane, her face pale. She gripped the edge of the glass with one hand. Due to her low blood sugar, she felt weak and was trembling.Three days ago, Chester had taken her from the airport. Since then, she had been locked in this room like a prisoner, completely isolated from the world with no internet or mobile phone."I want to see Chester!" she screamed toward the door. "Otherwise, I’ll jump right now!"Chester stopped in his tracks. He had never hated that woman’s voice more than he did at that moment."Mr
