Leigh couldn't try to convince him otherwise. Chester was always decisive. He could only obey.

As their car pulled out of the underground parking lot and into the city, they saw the battered woman standing on the side of the road waiting for a taxi.

Because Leigh had spoken with the hotel manager beforehand, the manager hadn't given her any extra trouble and allowed her to leave after some routine questions.

The banquet was over, and she had left the hall alone.

This was her third job in Sire City. If she were fired again, she would have trouble buying food for herself. But after what happened today, would Union Technology keep her?

The sky grew dark, and Elizabeth huddled against the cold.

"Sir..." Leigh wanted to speak but decided to swallow his words.

Chester had his eyes closed as he sat in the passenger seat. He looked quite tired. Leigh drove past Elizabeth quickly.

When that familiar figure passed by her, Elizabeth’s heart turned to ice. Chester Yale—the man she would never forget. A month ago, she had escaped Tinson Garden and managed to save her own life. Sire City was three hundred kilometers away from Lime City. She had never expected to run into him here.

But it was better for her that he acted as coldly as if they were strangers. Perhaps to him, she had been dead for a long time.

It was midnight when she finally returned to her rented apartment. Her place was in a dilapidated area on the verge of demolition

The apartment itself was small and simple. In the last month, the water and electricity had been cut off intermittently. The electrical circuits were old and often malfunctioned; as a result, the lights would turn on and off on their own.

She opened the door. The room was brightly lit. Elizabeth sighed without thinking much of it as she took off her shoes and put on her slippers.

"Isn't this place a little too beat-up for our Mrs. Yale?”

Elizabeth’s body froze with fear when she heard a man’s voice behind her.

It was... it was Chester!

Turning her body slowly, she saw the all-too-familiar man sitting elegantly on her sofa. His face was cold and dark as he looked at her.

"Why... why are you here?" she asked as she backed closer to the door.

One of her hands slid behind her back, gripping the doorknob so she could prepare to run.

"My men are behind that door, too. It’s not that easy to escape me," Chester said as he picked up a photo frame from the coffee table. The image in the frame was of a woman smiling as brightly as a flower in bloom.

A blooming flower? Such a wicked and malicious woman didn't deserve to smile so beautifully!

Chester tightened his grip. He wanted to destroy the cheap photo frame in his hands.

"I’ve already signed the divorce papers, so what else do you want?" Elizabeth asked. "I told you very clearly that Rachel’s death had nothing to do with me! There’s no point in you harassing me!"

At the mention of Rachel’s name, Chester flinched. A layer of frost covered his eyes momentarily. He had warned this woman many times never to tell anyone about their relationship.

But that woman had entered Tinson Garden, heedless of his words!

Rachel was very ill then. Upon learning that Chester had married another woman, she suffered a shock and her condition worsened. Ultimately, she passed away.

"Mrs. Yale, you are quite the actress. You look so naive when you try!"

Chester set the photo frame down as he slowly stood up.

"Are we divorced just because you signed the papers?"

Elizabeth knew that signing the papers didn't mean they were legally divorced, but she knew she was going to die if she stayed at Tinson Garden any longer.

"Make an appointment to make it official, then. I’m free whenever!"

"Mrs. Yale, you’re mistaken. I’m not looking for an official divorce," Chester said as he walked up to her and brushed the bangs on her forehead. "What I want is your life!"

Elizabeth began to breathe more and more heavily without realizing it. She thought she had successfully escaped Chester, but it was far too easy for her to be recaptured.

"Chester, we were husband and wife for three long years. Do you really hate me that much?"

Elizabeth raised her head slightly and looked at that malicious face. Random moments from the last three years began to drift through her mind.

After a drunken night three years ago, she had woken up in a stranger’s bed. Before she had time to react properly, she had already become his legal wife.

She didn't know why Chester had married her. But it was the dream of almost every woman to marry the tycoon of Lime City, Chester Yale of Galaxy Corporation.

Furthermore, at that time, she had absolutely nothing. She was just an office worker with no fame or glory.

Only after getting married did she find it all ironic. Aside from a few people around Chester, no one knew she was his "Mrs. Yale." She was nothing more than a nobody he was ashamed to introduce to others.

"If your brother knew what the last three years were like for you, I wonder if he’d regret setting the whole thing up back then," Chester said, his fingers grazing her cheeks.

Brother?

Elizabeth felt confused. When did she have a brother?

Did he mean Andrew from the Anson family?

A few years ago, Andrew Anson entered her life and became her sworn brother. The Anson family was a wealthy family in Lime City, while she was just an orphan. Elizabeth had never taken their oath seriously.

Besides, three years ago, the Anson family went bankrupt. Andrew’s father committed suicide while Andrew himself disappeared without a trace. So, Elizabeth couldn't really call him her brother.

"What are you talking about? Setting what up?"

"Still feigning innocence?"

Chester’s hand slid down to Elizabeth’s neck. If he used just a little more force, her slender pink neck would easily snap in two.

Three years ago, if Andrew hadn't drugged his drink, he wouldn't have made a mistake with this woman! The worst part was that Andrew had recorded the whole thing on camera and threatened him into marrying Elizabeth. If he didn't comply, the video would be sent to Rachel.

At the time, Rachel was already very sick. She wouldn't have been able to handle the news.

"I don’t know what you’re saying!" Elizabeth said as she tried to wriggle away from him.

How dare she continue to pretend to be innocent!

Chester felt rage surging from deep within his chest, and the strength in his hands grew tighter.

"I knew all the Ansons were equally wicked!"

His sudden, tightened grip made Elizabeth gasp for air.

"Let go of me!" Elizabeth grabbed his hand with hers and tried to pull it away from her body. "I... I can't breathe!”

"When you killed Rachel, did you ever stop to think that she couldn't breathe either?" Chester thought of Rachel’s pale face just before she passed away.

The woman he had protected for five years had died at the hands of this wicked woman!

"I didn't kill her!" Elizabeth argued again, fighting for her life. She had only gone to see Rachel once. During that time, she hadn't even spoken a single word to her. How could she have harmed her, let alone killed her?

When she woke up, the only thing she could smell was alcohol. The nurse came over to adjust the saline drip."What happened to me?" She rubbed her temples and accidentally touched the cannula in her hand. The pain shocked her, and she regained her clarity."Ma'am, you are malnourished and anemic!" the nurse scolded. "Do you often stay up late and drink heavily? You’d better quit those bad habits! Your health is the most important thing in the world!"Malnourished? She listened to the nurse’s advice intermittently. I’m pregnant!"Chester’s gaze narrowed. This woman was not only evil, but a compulsive liar as well!"Pregnant?" He laughed. The strength in his hands weakened slightly. "Then I must thank Mrs. Yale for giving me this chance to be a father!""It’s your child!" Elizabeth breathed deeply as Chester’s grip loosened. In order to survive, she was doing anything and everything necessary. How shameless this woman was!Chester looked at her with rage. "You aren't going to make me go alone, are you?" Lenny asked in an annoyed tone.Elizabeth shook her head and followed. Lenny stopped when they reached the fourth floor, in front of Room 403."Elizabeth, your dress is truly beautiful today," Lenny said with a smile. "White suits you very well! If I were a man, I’d fall in love with you!""Thank you!" Elizabeth replied quickly. She had bought the dress in a hurry; it had cost her a couple hundred dollars.Lenny grabbed Elizabeth’s hand."Mr. Lenzo is a very important client for us, so you must perform well tonight. This is a great opportunity!" Lenny said as she pushed Elizabeth toward the door. "Don't disappoint me.""What? What do you mean?" Elizabeth was confused."I forgot to tell you," Lenny whispered, leaning close to Elizabeth’s ear, "Mr. Lenzo wanted to see you, not me!”"What did you say?" Elizabeth’s entire body tensed up. She suddenly realized exactly what was happening."Play your part well, and don't disappoint me!" Lenny

It was eleven o’clock at night at Tinson Garden.A dark shadow cut through the peaceful landscape, splashing into a puddle."Mr. Yale!" Leigh Lambert, the assistant, exclaimed as he pushed open the door in a panic. "Mrs. Yale is—"Before finishing his sentence, Leigh realized he had misspoken and immediately corrected himself: "Ms. Renshaw is having another tantrum!"Chester clenched his fists and stormed up the building.Inside the room, Elizabeth Renshaw leaned against the windowpane, her face pale. She gripped the edge of the glass with one hand. Due to her low blood sugar, she felt weak and was trembling.Three days ago, Chester had taken her from the airport. Since then, she had been locked in this room like a prisoner, completely isolated from the world with no internet or mobile phone."I want to see Chester!" she screamed toward the door. "Otherwise, I’ll jump right now!"Chester stopped in his tracks. He had never hated that woman’s voice more than he did at that moment."Mr
