Chester was in no state of mind to listen to Elizabeth’s pleas. His slightly trembling hand continued to grip her neck. His fingers were practically about to touch.

"You can't do this to me!" Elizabeth said waveringly.

"Are you begging for mercy?" Chester’s eyes flashed with sarcasm. "Give me one good reason why!"

Elizabeth furrowed her brows. She didn't want to die yet!

"I’m... I’m pregnant!"

Chester’s gaze narrowed.

This woman was not only evil, but a compulsive liar as well!

"Pregnant?" He laughed. The strength in his hands weakened slightly. "Then I must thank Mrs. Yale for giving me this chance to be a father!"

"It’s your child!" Elizabeth breathed deeply as Chester’s grip loosened. In order to survive, she was doing anything and everything necessary.

How shameless this woman was!

Chester looked at her with rage. He didn't believe he was stupid enough to make two mistakes with her!

"A month ago, you drank too much!" Elizabeth invented a random reason on the spot.

A month ago, he had indeed returned home once. But back then, he was so drunk that he couldn't remember what had happened. Chester began to trace the events of that night. In the last three years, he hadn't seen Elizabeth much. In total, he hadn't seen her more than ten times.

He vaguely remembered seeing this woman a month ago. But how on earth would he have touched her willingly?

"Do you remember now?" Elizabeth asked tremblingly. She would have preferred if he didn't remember anything at all. "It’s your child!"

"Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing you a month ago!" He looked at her with a spiteful gaze. "But do you think I would touch just any woman I see?"

Elizabeth felt incredibly insulted.

"You had too much to drink, so of course you don't remember what happened!" she said stubbornly

"You’re as disgusting as your brother!" Chester’s eyes became bloodshot, like those of a violent and wild beast.

Elizabeth could only stare at him blankly. She didn't know what Andrew did to cross Chester so deeply, nor what she had done to deserve this treatment.

"Don't worry. I’m not going to threaten you with this child!" Elizabeth stood against the door and said, "I’ll find a time to get an official divorce. From then on, I’ll disappear from your life!"

"A divorce?" He laughed. "So, the mistakes you committed can just be wiped clean?"

As Elizabeth expected, no matter how much she explained, Chester would never believe she had nothing to do with Rachel’s death. What was the point in lying?

"A life for a life, right?" Elizabeth asked. She stopped resisting. With the power he held now, she couldn't escape Chester.

"Do you think your life is worthy enough?"

Elizabeth’s heart jolted. So, even her life wasn't worthy of an exchange?

"Then what do you want? I’ve told you many times that I had nothing to do with her death! I couldn't even speak to her, let alone harm her!" Elizabeth said, her eyes growing moist. She knew this man wouldn't trust her no matter how much she explained.

Even her face, filled with helplessness and righteousness, could not change his hatred toward her.

"What do I want?" Chester said, curling his hand into a fist. His other hand didn't move. Suddenly, he retracted his hand, turned around, and began to walk away. "I’ll make you pay, little by little."

Elizabeth rubbed her aching neck and stared at him. "Fine, I’ll be waiting for you!"

Chester threw his credit card onto the floor. Elizabeth looked at it with a confused expression.

"You are not worthy of giving birth to my child. Get an abortion tomorrow!"

Elizabeth was utterly stunned. She thought she had misheard him. Abort it tomorrow?

Even if she had made up that lie, how could he stand to say something like that?

"Don’t worry. I’ll do it!"

Elizabeth knelt to pick up the credit card just as the lights in her apartment flickered and died.

Chester groaned. What on earth was this godforsaken place?

He prepared to leave the area, tracing the faint light coming from outside the windows into the apartment.

"Ow!" Elizabeth’s shrill cry hit his ears.

"You stepped on my hand!" Elizabeth screamed in pain.

Chester retracted his foot hastily. He regretted ever coming to find this woman! Couldn't he have just treated her as if she were already dead?

"What are you doing?" he asked impatiently.

"Picking up the credit card you threw on the floor!" Elizabeth had grabbed the card and was now slowly standing up.

She had angered Mr. Lenzo tonight, so she was probably going to lose her job. She needed money; otherwise, she wouldn't be able to pay her rent.

Chester didn't want to say anything else, so he left without looking back at her. When he reached the door, Elizabeth called out to him

"You didn't tell me the PIN for the card!" Elizabeth wasn't so foolish as to accept the card without a PIN.

Chester felt his rage starting to rise again. How could a woman be so annoying?

"Someone will contact you about it!"

He was about to leave before she called him again.

"Tomorrow?" She knew she shouldn't be so aggressive, but she didn't have many chances to see Chester again. If she didn't get the PIN today, she wouldn't even be able to have dinner.

Chester turned around. In the dark room, he saw the woman standing directly beside him. She was a bit more pleasant to look at without the bright lights on.

"Are you that eager to abort the child?"

"If I keep it for an extra day, do I get an extra day's worth of money?"

She must have grown bolder because the lights were out.

In the darkness, Chester must have had an expression of disgust; however, she couldn't see clearly at all.

"Mrs. Yale has learned how to do business quite well in just a month!" Chester said as he grabbed her by the wrist. "You want money, huh?"

Elizabeth didn't know what he planned to do. She tried to shake off his grip, but it was in vain.

"What do you want?"

"It’s so dark in here. If you fell, I’m sure there would be no need for the money," Chester said as he gathered strength in his hands and shoved her out the door.

"Let go of me!" Elizabeth realized Chester might have seen through her lies, so she tried to break free, but it didn't work.

The neighborhood where she lived was complicated. Even though she called for help, no one appeared to save her. Chester shoved her into the car before getting in himself.

"Mr. Yale, where are we going?" Leigh was in the driver's seat and looked back at him.

"The nearest hospital!" Chester said maliciously.

Elizabeth huddled in the car. She couldn't go to the hospital. If Chester found out she had lied to him, she would be in an even worse situation.

Leigh didn't understand what was happening, but he started the car and set his GPS. The nearest hospital was only about ten kilometers away.

In the emergency department, the doctor handed a checklist to Chester.

Elizabeth stood at the door of the consultation room and looked at the icy figure standing in front of her. She felt an immense pain in her heart. To this day, they were still legally married, but she had never felt even a hint of warmth from him

"Two months ago—no, since we married three years ago—you never made that mistake a second time with me!" Elizabeth sighed and said shamefully, "That’s why I lied!"

Chester said nothing. He furrowed his brows while the hand holding the checklist trembled.

"Here is your credit card!" Elizabeth said as she turned to leave. "You know where I live anyway. Take your revenge however you want."

After finishing her sentence, she prepared to leave. She walked about ten meters. Then, her weak body suddenly collapsed to the floor.

When she woke up, the only thing she could smell was alcohol. The nurse came over to adjust the saline drip."What happened to me?" Leigh couldn't try to convince him otherwise. Chester was always decisive. "You aren't going to make me go alone, are you?" Lenny asked in an annoyed tone.Elizabeth shook her head and followed. Lenny stopped when they reached the fourth floor, in front of Room 403."Elizabeth, your dress is truly beautiful today," Lenny said with a smile. "White suits you very well! If I were a man, I’d fall in love with you!""Thank you!" Elizabeth replied quickly. She had bought the dress in a hurry; it had cost her a couple hundred dollars.Lenny grabbed Elizabeth’s hand."Mr. Lenzo is a very important client for us, so you must perform well tonight. This is a great opportunity!" Lenny said as she pushed Elizabeth toward the door. "Don't disappoint me.""What? What do you mean?" Elizabeth was confused."I forgot to tell you," Lenny whispered, leaning close to Elizabeth’s ear, "Mr. Lenzo wanted to see you, not me!”"What did you say?" Elizabeth’s entire body tensed up. She suddenly realized exactly what was happening."Play your part well, and don't disappoint me!" Lenny

It was eleven o’clock at night at Tinson Garden.A dark shadow cut through the peaceful landscape, splashing into a puddle."Mr. Yale!" Leigh Lambert, the assistant, exclaimed as he pushed open the door in a panic. "Mrs. Yale is—"Before finishing his sentence, Leigh realized he had misspoken and immediately corrected himself: "Ms. Renshaw is having another tantrum!"Chester clenched his fists and stormed up the building.Inside the room, Elizabeth Renshaw leaned against the windowpane, her face pale. She gripped the edge of the glass with one hand. Due to her low blood sugar, she felt weak and was trembling.Three days ago, Chester had taken her from the airport. Since then, she had been locked in this room like a prisoner, completely isolated from the world with no internet or mobile phone."I want to see Chester!" she screamed toward the door. "Otherwise, I’ll jump right now!"Chester stopped in his tracks. He had never hated that woman’s voice more than he did at that moment."Mr
